Top Chef: Dale on Top

Dale At last - Dale gets a win! Who knew that cooking for cowboys would finally be the challenge to inspire him (although we did get a hint when he confessed to "sleeping with a few cowboys"). So hot.

Clearly, Brian was doomed. He should've been gone after he perspired through his tour-of-duty as house manager in Episode 8's "Restaurant Wars".  The second he put on that goofy hat (he's a cowboy from Coronado? whatevs...), any seasoned "Top Chef" viewer knew Brian would be packin' it up and heading home.

Loved Casey's "Jennifer Aniston" expression while Padma explained the challenge outside the Ranch. I have to say though, I've really changed my opinion of Casey these last few episodes, and my money is on her to win. The show needs a female win, and while Hung probably should win, he'll also be the most bitter that he doesn't...making for great TV.

But how much greater would it be if Dale could pull it out and win the whole thing? His speech at the end about "finding himself" was the most genuinely passionate moment on the show ever. Hung's got a great story too, but Dale's a shoe-in for Fan Favorite (please don't let it be C.J. - he is so pre-breakup Judge Reinhold from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High"...) Not only does Dale have a saucy little smile but it's so refreshing to see a gay man on TV speak so openly about his sexuality, free of any drama (either real or created by the producers). I'm rootin' for you Dale, and if I'm ever in Chicago, I'm bringin' by chaps and my lasso for you. Yipee ki-yay!

See Dale wake up in the morning here!
