Blair's Two Dads on "Gossip Girl"

Hope you didn't miss the holiday episode of "Gossip Girl," because it was back to its funny "O.C."-ish self. Sure, not that much happened, but there was more than enough bitchiness and cute teen love and angst to go around.

The main intrigue was Blair's gay dad finally making an appearance -- bringing his European boyfriend Roman to New York (pictured: Roman on left, Dad on right). Of course Blair didn't take too kindly to sharing her dad over the holidays, so she did her best to drive a wedge between him and his boyfriend--bringing and old ex back, tripping the boyfriend while he was ice skating. You know, "Parent Trap" kind of stuff. But it was cute. And it ended with Blair's dad showing her pics of the new mansion in France complete with a room of Blair's own. Awww...

Other (throw-away) story lines included Serena's mother, Lily, getting engaged to Chuck's billionaire dad. And then Dan's dad, Rufus (and yes, the name still never rolls off the tongue), pining over Lily even though his wife has just returned from a separation and an affair. Merry Christmas and good times! Oh, and Blair's really worried her boyfriend is going to find out that she slept with slimy Chuck. 

But back to the front burner, we got to see Dan shirtless again. He and Serena were all cozy under the covers on Christmas, though there seems to be some trouble brewing with Dan's ex Vanessa. Not only could rich girl Serena not think of a present for her boyfriend that didn't cost more than his entire wardrobe combined, but she finally had to go to Vanessa for help. Yeah, yeah, we get it: Serena and Dan are from different sides of the tracks. But let's be honest, Dan's side of the tracks still has pretty stunning loft apartments furnished by West Elm--oh, his side of the tracks is still in Manhattan.

So let's look forward to a love triangle with Dan, Serena, and Vanessa in the new year. And let's gag at the fact that Dan is only 20 and has gotten a story published in the New Yorker.
