Battlestar Galactica: New York Comic Con Coverage

Comicondisney New York Comic Con was amazing this year. Not only did Neil Patrick Harris and his posie pass by us while we were in line getting our exclusive Stewie Griffin Bobble Head collectable, but we got to see Ben Barnes (pictured) who plays Prince Caspian in the next Narnia flick. Barnes looked like something out of the Dirty English promos from Juicy Couture with his hair slicked back, slim fit coat and a sexy dangerous boy demeanor (which is to say he sat slouching down on stage).

I wish I could say I kept my composure like most of the audience, but instinct kicked in the second he came on stage. I started fantasying of him escorting me around New York City in his limo or jetting off to Prague to film the next Narnia movie, and living happily ever after. All I had to do was get him to see me. So I ran to the front of the stage bit instead of being a smoldering temptress, I whipped out my camera like a teeny popper and snapped as many photos of him as possible. Oh, how I love Comic Con!

After my horn-ball attack was over, the Galactica panel kicked off directly after. It was actually pretty funny because the Narnia panel went over its time limit and a speaker came on stage asking everyone who was there to clear out because the Galactica panel was next and it was a very popular one. Poor Barnes was ushered out of stage and our lives in the tragic minutes that followed.

Originally schedule to appear at the BSG panel were Grace Park (“Boomer”) and Tahmoh Penikett (“Helo”), but they weren’t there nor was there any reason given as to why they wouldn’t appear. Instead the panel got Rekha Sharma (“Tory Foster”),   Michael Trucco (“Samuel Anders”), and Michael Hogan (“Saul Tigh”).
The last minute switch up wasn’t a big deal since Park and Penikett’s characters really haven’t done much this season. Of greater interest are the Final Five Cylons which the actors on the panel make up three of them.

The panel started off with an exclusive Season Four trailer and all I can say is WOW! There was a scene with Laura Roslin wearing a wig talking to Lee Adama where she exclaimed that she needs to find out what her visions mean. There was also a scene with Natalie-Six telling the colonial government they are now rebels from their own species and have no where else to go. The trailer was kick ass and if this is any indication of where the season is heading, I’m strapped in for the ride.

Now for the actual panel itself, wish I could say there was anything of substance to relate.
The cast answered some silly questions from audience members like why there aren’t laser guns. One of the more interesting questions consisted of one audience member asking the panel if they knew who the fifth Cylon was and if so, what was there reaction. The entire panel went quiet and the look on their face said it all. They did know who the final Cylon was but as Hogan spoke up in a Saul Tight voice, he couldn’t “answer that.”

Highlight of the event was seeing  Sharma in real life, who seemed a bit more bubbly than the otherwise dead serious character she plays, Tory Foster. Of special note of course was Trucco who was fresh from a steamy sexy scene with Starbuck in Friday’s nights episode. Seeing Trucco in real life was, well..let’s just say I needed a towel after the event/

While the panel itself wasn’t informative on the spoiler front, shouted they loved Tory for killing Cally Tyrol in Friday night’s episode cause they hated her. So I hope that wasn’t a major spoiler to anyone reading this since it has been the buzz of the Con all weekend. To be fair, Tory wasn’t being evil in killing Cally. As Sharma herself said on the panel, Tory is just trying to protect the other three cylons and Cally was a threat to their secrecy.

Well, all I can say is I’m still gaga over seeing Neil Patrick Haris, Ben Barnes, and Michael Trucco live all weekend. Those boys are smoking and I’m still waiting for a call from their personal assistant saying they were captivated by an emo kid with an X-men t-shirt who kept taking their photos all weekend. Swoons.
