Griffin Kills at GLAAD Awards
The inimitable Kathy Griffin basked in the love and adulation of "her gays" when her Bravo series My Life on the D-List won Outstanding Reality Show at the 19th Annual GLAAD Media Awards, which were presented in Hollywood over the weekend.
Ever fearless, Griffin took the opportunity to needle American Idol host Ryan Seacrest at the event, with a little help from her mom Maggie. According to People.com, Griffin invited her mother to join her onstage, then asked, "Mom, who's the gayest-looking person in the room tonight?"
"Is Ryan Seacrest here?" her mother replied.
Aside from Griffin's My Life on the D-List, which launches a new season on June 12, Ugly Betty and Brothers & Sisters took home major GLAAD Awards, winning Outstanding TV Comedy Series and Outstanding TV Drama Series, respectively.
Ellen DeGeneres had the honor of presenting Janet Jackson with the Vanguard Award, given to media figures that have worked to increase LGBT visibility.
Not to be nasty, but I would also given that honor to Griffin.
i love her, when and how did she get so entangled with the gay community?

I love Kathy, but she seriously needs to let the Seacrest thing go. It's grown tiresome. She's a smart, smart woman who *surely* can come up with new material. I know it's a crowd pleaser, but it's always the same old, same old. We get it.

she's a piglet that uses the "gay thing" to her advantage. for that, she is held in esteem by gays and is another of their "icons". she's still loud, crude and rude, something i've noticed really goes over well in gay clubs.

I like that Griffin as least in her standup tells Hollywood to screw itself and has made her career by saying what everyone is thinking but doesn't want to say. Just like Roseanne did.
However, I really don't like it when she says my gays or I love the gays. I'd like somebody to say I love the Jews or I love the Blacks or I just love the Mexicans or I love those Asians. She so much wants to be idealized by gay men because that's her bread and butter that even though I like her comedy, sometimes I'm like shut the f--- up.

Kathy is a great comedian. For Sarah above, what comedian do you know that is not "loud, crude and rude"?
What is the problem with "my gays"?
The majority of us love the affection! We sure don't get it from the straight crowd! The uptight
metrosexuals can always look the other f_ _ king way. Get over your negative output "knumbers" and wrap yourselves in pity. **knumbers-those who live without pleasure or fun** New term for the 2008 vocabulary.

i don't like Kathy and her load, crude and rude self. I wish she would just shut the F__CK UP. I don't know the stroy behind her and Ryan But who cares if he's gay or not at least he ain't Kathy.

Just a quick note on JP's comment. Many of comics say, my blacks, my jews, or the blacks or the jews. Two that come to mind right of bat would be Lisa Lampanllei (forgive the spelling), and Sarah Silver and there are countless others. I think Kathy is just a lover her or hate her type of comic, sometimes the gay shit gets a bit tired but otherwise she just tells it how it is.

KAthy Griffin has HAD her fifteen minutes of fame, and then some... MOVE ON./.. to someone who is at least MINIMALLY talented and even slightly entertaining. I would rather listen to fingernails on a blackboard than AHYTHING to do with Griffin

What I love is that Kathy takes no prisoners...she is a latter day Joan Rivers, someone a lot of people can't stand too, but definitely her role model (as well as good buddy)...
Some people seem AWFULLY sensitive about the "my gays" comment she makes...it may sound condescending, but it is true that she knows that gay people love her in general simply because we LIKE over the top people...I mean, who really cares for boring people if you are a red blooded American queen???? You like your drama and heels high, honey...

I've never liked Ms. Griffin nearly as well as she likes herself, and I don't find her all that funny.
What made me actively dislike her is what I've heard from people who have waited on her in restaurants and stores. Reliable info says that she treats "underlings" as "lesser than" and either tips VERY low or stiffs the wait staff. That's usually after making numerous requests for special service.
I don't know her, so I don't know what her side of the story is. I do trust one of the waiters completely - she's my daughter.
