Trash Talkin' "A Baller" Wins Big Brother

Adam_big_bro Who could have ever predicted that Adam "A Baller" Jasinski, the loudmouth who seemed like an early goner at the outset of Big Brother 9: 'Til Death Do Us Part, would emerge from the house last night as the show's winner?

Adam won the votes of all of the jury members, with the exception of openly gay Joshuah Welch who gave his vote to runner-up Ryan Quicksall.

Meanwhile, "Crazy" James Zinkand, who romanced Chelsia Hart and did not speak of his gay porn past on the show, clearly won over America, taking home the $25,000 America's Vote prize.

By the way, did anyone else notice that Joshuah's original partner on the show and the cast's only other openly gay member, Neil Garcia, who made a sudden exit for personal reasons, was not part of the reunion last night?

Back to Adam, certainly his promise to pledge $100,000 of the $500,000 Big Brother grand prize to fund after-school programs for children won him support among the rest of the jury. But those who work with autistic children likely aren't going to be impressed.

As those of you who watched Big Brother 9 from the beginning will recall, Adam made some controversial remarks early on in the game, informing some of his housemates that he worked in public relations for an autism foundation and announcing that if he won Big Brother 9, he would open a hair salon for people with developmental disabilities "so retards can get it together and get their hair done."

To her credit, Adam's housemate Sheila Obermueller chastised him for his offensive remark. But rather than apologize, Adam insisted that he was allowed to call the developmentally disabled whatever he wanted because he worked with them.

Autism United Foundation, the charity that employed Adam, demanded an apology from CBS after the episode aired and lobbied for the show to be yanked off the air.

This isn't the first time a Big Brother houseguest has gotten himself and CBS into hot water for making offensive remarks. Back in season one of the reality show, George Boswell revealed homophobic tendencies.

Not surprisingly, Big Brother host Julie Chen steered clear of controversy last night, failing to bring up Adam's retard remark, James' well-documented stint in gay porn and Neil's conspicuous absence.
