Sneak Peek: Belinda's revealing interview!
PlanetOut's Jenny Stewart just did another revealing interview with Belinda Carlisle. The full interview is set to run in early July, but here's a sneak peek into some of the things Belinda -- who turns 50 this August and looks awesome -- had to say about Amy, Madonna and the Lindsay Lohan lesbian news...
If she thinks she or anyone can save Amy Winehouse:
"I think she needs to be locked up. That's the only way I think anything could help her because frankly, I think she's on a death mission. I know from experience that you can't have help until you want it, and I can't see that she wants any help. I mean, they are saying now that she has emphysema from smoking crack? That's like, pretty bad, especially since she's only in her early 20's. So I think that if it was possible to lock her up and keep her from herself, and then try to just... beat the program into her head or something it might work? I mean, that poor thing, she just does so many drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if she died. I know that's a terrible thing to say but she just seems to have a death wish."
"If you're too skinny after a certain age, I don't think it looks good. I think the reason I look OK at 50 is because I have a little meat on my bones. Catherine Denueve said that after 35 you have to make a choice between your face and your butt, and I agree with her. [Laughs]. And I've chosen my face!"
"I think there are a lot of women out there who look great for their age. I think Kim Cattrall looks amazing, I think she looks really good and natural. I think Julianne Moore looks beautiful, and Michelle Pfeiffer is still stunning."
"I think that after a certain age, if you're too skinny, and too worked-out and too sinewy, I just think it looks desperate and old. Madonna, all the power to her and a lot of people think she looks great, but I'd like to see her gain about 20 pounds and be a little bit easier on herself, actually."
"I think Lindsay Lohan and Samantha are an adorable couple, and I think they're really cute together!"

Belinda Carlisle is a goddess? That's one hell of a talentless goddess - she's responsible for like eight good songs in her whole life. And why does her face look so plastic surgery'd and terrifying in that picture? Yeesh.

I worship the feet of Madonna, but I'm on Belinda's side on this one. Look, Madonna looks fantastic and come on -- she's just fabulous in a universe we all don't live in.
But what if she wasn't Madonna? If you saw her in the supermarket at 50 with those arms, you'd think it looked odd.
Madonna is an inspiration to millions --- including myself -- and fitness is important. All I'm saying here is that I agree that she'd look better with about 10 pounds on her. And maybe cut down the daily weights to maybe twice per week.
Bottom line -- if Madonna keeps herself at this weight and at this workout rituual, her face is going to look insanely hollow at 55.
When it gets down to it, I guess she does need to make a choice here. Face or butt? I don't want her to get fat, but I love her face and would be more willing to keep that gorgeous Madonna face preserved. Her body? If anyone could figure out a way to make a few extra pounds work, it's her.
Madonna, Belinda's right. (So don't get catty).

Odd that all anyone seems interested in is,"What does she(or he) think of other celebrities?" Just once I'd like to see an artist say,"Screw what I think about them. My latest album is God-head so let's concentrate on that." But then,of course,it is often already bein' sold for 7 bucks on Amazon as it was not quite "god head."Why should Madonna give a crap if her arms look like little muscley toothpicks?She just sold another another shitload of albums,and is playin Dodger stadium.I am sure she will gain a little weight,probably when she tires of recording songs with titles like"Can U Feel the Beat?" and does her folk album,which surely is soon to come.Are we ready for Peter,Paul,and Madonna?!As for Belinda,she's pretty,but for me The Go-Gos gone and went long ago-go.

Yeah, where is the full interview? And sure Belinda looks OK for 50. Anyone probably would with the kind of money she has made. But that is a drop in the bucket compared to the Grand Dam Madonna. Belinda's TOO OPEN opinions is probably what broke up the Go-Gos (No big loss). When & if Madonna was to listen to this, whe'd probably say something like, "Belinda who?.... Oh." and then go on to be the Most awesome success well into her 80s or until the world ends & she will still be around to entertain the roaches. & Lindsay is a Lezbo now, really? That is probably made up or a publicity stunt. Besides, why can't straight people have gay friends? & Amy Crackhouse, why should anyone care if she doesn't, say NO NO NO....

Rock on Belinda!!!! I've always been a fan of her's. I think she has more talent that Madonna and I don't really care what anyone else thinks. Belinda has Class too. She has always kept her private life private unlike Madonna, so I have so much respect for her not only as a singer but a person as well.
I totally miss the Go-Go's and Belinda's solo career.
I don't care how Madonna looks because I think she's nothing but an attention monger. I hate her music and everything she represents. She's phony. No surprise that she's getting divorced. Guy Ritchie will be so much better off without her.

The drunk at work sings No No No a lot. His phone rings to that tune. He likes it that someone famous admits they don't want to go to rehab. Everyone finds their own heros.
Even when she was young Madonna made it in spite of not looking perfect. Her efforts are to be the best she can be in whichever fields or ways she chooses.

I have always loved Belinda Carlisle's music and femininity. I had the pleasure of seeing her live 2 years ago and was amazed at how powerful, and pitch perfect her voice was. Madonna inspires me daily and you have to always remember that someone like her comes once in a blue moon to this planet. She is an all round performer, surpassing our expectations every single time. Both her and Belinda look awesome for their ages. I think people should look at themselves before even commenting on Madonna's physique. She is close to perfection as it gets.
Congratulations Madge, you have always done your own thing, and it certainly has paid off.

I think it's interesting that all Madonna fans can talk about is how many hits and money she has. It shows what kind of values they have. It's all about fame and mass appeal. I find that to be very revealing about their personalities. I think we know this day in age it does not take talent to sell records and many artists now have proven that. What else do they care about? Is it all about being popoluar in this shallow world. Madonna tries very hard to be popular something I never found mysterious or appealing. Good for Belinda for living her life in private and not trying so hard to be adored. ROCK ON!!

I have always loved Belinda, but what the hell did she do to her face??? Why did she get that disgusting lip thing done....I hate that!! If you want to see someone who truly looks great for her age...take a look at Debbie Harry, she's almost 65 and looks amazing and pretty natural.

Belinda looks great. The only cosmetic "work" she's had done is Botox. Anyone who knew her face, eyes, cheekbones and full lips from the late 80's would know that she's remained very natural; her current look is not the result of surgery and implants. She's taken good care of herself and shows some of the regular signs of healthy aging. That's all.

As expected, the Madonna fanatics took a simple discussion about an artist's opinion and turned it into a hissy fit about their "goddess". I could care less about Madonna, and it's a shame she's so concerned with selling to the Britney/Justin crowd, rather than making good music.

All of you saying negative stuff about Madonna, you'd all be the first in line to buy tickets to her show so shut it.
And as for Belinda, seriously, where is she now? She is not the perfect little faux punk/new-waver everyone thought she was, I mean come on, Circle in Sand, Heaven Is The Place On Earth?! Yeah...she really broke barriers there didn't she?!(snigh)

I'm amazed that such an innocent comment can be send so many of you guys into such a hissy fit. There's clearly no malice or bitchiness in what Belinda said. Madonna really doesn't need to push it so hard, she's a good looking woman and a little more weight would be more flattering. Madonna is rightly admired for her very high level of physical fitness for her age (which Belinda clearly acknowledges) but she could afford to easy off. Yes Belinda Carlisle is not as successful as Madonna (but who is? -oh yes, Mariah!) but Belinda has had (and continues to have) a long and successful career which affords her a luxury lifestyle at her home in the South of France. As for the face, well Belinda is naturally more beautiful than Madonna and her choice to save her face at the cost of her ass seems like a sound one as that's what she sings out of. Yes she's hit the Botox and probably the collagen, but she doesn't have any signs of actual cosmetic surgery (and if she had, she'd probably openly admit it). In all Belinda comes across as being well adjusted, grown up and content. A few of you guys could learn something from her!
