The Rock's Man-On-Man Kiss, Kathy Griffin Rocks "Larry King Live"

Dwaynejohnson1 (Getty Image) I can't say that I fantasize about Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson getting busy with Steve Carell. Do you? But I do appreciate the fact that the two guys smooch in the upcoming summer flick Get Smart.

In The Rock's mind, theirs is a kiss to remember. "We came up with a great kiss," The Rock, who plays Agent 23 in the film, teased in an interview with The Associated Press.

The guy had no problem planting one on his male co-star. "I thought if Jake Gyllenhaal can do it, Will Smith can do it, then I can do it, too. I'm going to own it," The Rock said. "I was like, 'Give me those lips right now. Right now."

Okay, maybe The Rock is a he-man, after all.

Actually, to his credit, The Rock has long been known as gay friendly. He appeared on the cover of Out magazine a few years back, and he played a gay bodyguard in the film Be Cool.

The fact that this tower of masculinity would portray a gay man shocked some of the former wrestler's fans. We in the gay community loved him for it.

Looking back on his kiss with The Rock, Carell, who plays Maxwell Smart in Get Smart, said, "The Rock has softer lips."

Carell also claimed that The Rock smelled like strawberry shortcake.

"There was never one moment of hesitation or awkwardness," Carell said of the kiss. "He's game for anything. Let me put it that way."

So does the revelation of a kiss between The Rock and Carell stoke your interest in Get Smart?

Can we all take a moment to hail Kathy Griffin after her amazing appearance on Larry King Live this weekend?

How freakin' funny was she? She was on for the full hour and never ran out of steam, poking fun at everyone from Ryan Seacrest to Tom Cruise to Paula Abdul to Oprah.

But did anyone else notice that she didn't make fun of Madonna? When King asked her what she thought of the material-turned-Malawi Girl, Kathy said, "Like every gay man, I'm obsessed with Madonna, and I'm fascinated by her and her beauty."

I think Kathy might have a girl crush.

If I could get serious for a moment, a friend of mine recently declared that Kathy has made more contributions to gay tolerance than any other comic in history, and he's right. This woman constantly celebrates her gays, and if I didn't know better, I would think she was a gay man.

Take her showing on Larry King Live this weekend. It was super gay!

Some highlights:

Near the top of the hour, Larry remarked that he and Oprah's best friend Gayle King share the same last name. Kathy pretended that she thought he said Oprah and Gayle share the same last name. "They're finally married!" she exclaimed. "I love living in California. I knew it!"

On Clay Aiken impregnating a 50-year-old friend via artificial insemination: "I'm shocked that he didn't make love to this woman many, many times, slowly throughout a night. That is shocking to me," Kathy said. "In addition to that, I am hurt that I was not chosen as his baby mama because I am a fan of Clay's and, in fact, bought his new CD the day it came out."

She then asked King if he would be Clay's baby mama. He said he wouldn't.

"You're actually saying you would not enter a same-sex union with Clay Aiken?"

"No," a nervous King responded. "Nothing against same sex. It's not my bag."

Kathy also jabbed Paula Abdul. "She can't even sit up straight half the time. Who in America could keep their job if they acted like that. Who?"

And, of course, she had something to say about Seacrest.

"You like Ryan Seacrest?" King asked.

"Are you kidding me with this? First of all, look, I think she's a great hostess," Kathy responded.

"He," King corrected.

"Oh, I'm sorry," Kathy said, adding, "He does a great job over there [on American Idol]."

She went on to explain that Seacrest is the perfect target for her "because he has so much money that there's nothing I could ever do to hurt him. Did you know that he is secretly taking over the world with Oprah?"

Kathy then made some more cracks about Seacrest's love of fake tans and mani/pedis.

"You're not saying he's gay?" King asked. "Have you seen some of the girls he goes out with?"

"Oh, are we playing that game? Because then we'll talk about Al Reynolds. If we're going to go there, let's talk about Star Jones," Kathy said.

Asked to explain why gay people love her comedy, Kathy said, "I love the gays, and I never actively went for a gay audience. I was just that girl who went to the prom with a gay guy and all that stuff. I've just always had gay friends, and I respect the gay community tremendously because I feel like they're so good at mobilizing and getting stuff done. They write the legislation, and they do the marches."

When King asked why pretty girls get along with "gay fellas," Kathy said, "First of all, they're almost all hot. They look good. For me, we have a lot of common interests. For example, if I was going to have a night where maybe we were going to watch Project Runway and Flipping Out, no offense, but I wouldn't invite you. It would be more enjoyable with gay people. It wouldn't be that much fun with you."

When a gay guy called in to the show to ask Kathy what he should do after proposing to his boyfriend and getting a no in response, Kathy advised him to move on, then joked that she was against marriage—gay or straight.

Then she actually got serious. "No, of course I'm pro gay marriage. I want the gays to do whatever they want. My goodness, who cares? That's another thing with the Republications worried about gay marriage—they don't have bigger fish to fry?"

And this is why we love our Kathy as much as she loves us.  If you missed the show, take a look at the clips below and let me know what you think about Kathy.

Kathy dishes on Hillary, Obama, Oprah and accuses Larry of lying about getting a a GLAAD Award:Kathy talks about her sex life, why the gays love her, being jealous of Tatum O'Neal's drug bust and why she wishes George Clooney was gay:Kathy talks about Tom Cruise being crazy, polygamy, her crush on Anderson Cooper and why her mom likes Ellen DeGeneres more than her:Kathy talks in-depth about Paula Addul being crazy, Ryan Seacrest being really un-gay, Pam Anderson and more:Why she likes Angelina, what happens when she runs into celebs she's trashed and more Ryan Seacrest:Just for fun, here's the Tom Cruise clip by itself

Is there ANYONE on the planet who is more gneeerally annoying than Griffin?

I am a gay man, I would rather watch paint dry than anything to do with Griffin.

SHE IS NOT FUNNY. SHE IS ANNOYING.

There are seven billion people on this planet. Griffin has had her "fifteen minutes of fame" ... mnove on to someone else... preferably someone who is even remotely interesting.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Kathy Griffin. I think she's hilarious and smart.

I watched all the clips because I missed the Larry King show when it aired on CNN. Thanks for posting them, Carter!

What she said about Oprah had me in stitches!

KG is a breath of fresh aire in a stagnant entertainment world. Yes, she can be tedious at times, but is generally a riot. The King interview shows how spontaneous and funny she can be..seemingly grabbing material right out of the air above her. I wish she would auction off another weekend with herself, as I would gladly max out a credit card (and knowing it was going to charity) to experience her in person. Thanks Kathy for making us laugh..out loud.

Kathy Griffin is hilarious and no matter what anyone thinks she is laughing all the way to the bank...I "get" her humor and I feel her pain. Keep rocking Kathy!

Many people don't find Kathy funny. The reason why is because they see that woman who is confident and outspoken w/o censorship. She tells it like she sees it.

She's the funniest woman comedian to date and she needs to be on the A-list because of her outspokened-ness. Do the d*** thing Kathy G.

Um Kathy Griffin has done a lot for the gay community? WOW. I am curious to what she has done.

WHAT ABOUT MARGARET CHO? Now she is AMAZING and has done much more than annoying Kathy Griffin.

Hey,

Kathy Griffin has her moments. She has made a comic living picking on others, bringing to the surface facts the American audience is aware of yet not so bold to mention. Kathy is a mistress of observation. The fact that she calls celebraties out and stands her ground when these stars get defensive is admirable. She has paid the price for her actions and yet is woman enough to continue.
Her acidic comedy could be put to good use. And if Hollywood wanted to shut her up, all they would have to do is put her in another comedy show, that would eat up her time and prevent her from having so many outlets to vocalize. Instead, she has a show that allows her to rant and rave, she has a high volume ticket selling comedy show. Then again, I'm defending her, and I'm not trying to do that. Kathy has a sense of humor and a big set of balls. You're gonna either love her or hate her. I think I respect Kathy Griffin. Probably because of her embrace of the gay community and her ability to poke fun of herself as well as others. She's like a bitchy queen in the bar, all bite, but able to take the biting as well as dish it.
