PR: Tim "Hollas Back" and Sandra Bernhard Gets B'toxed
Things are kickin' in to gear on PR, but if nobody steps up to the plate and tells Suede to stop referring to himself in the third person, I might have to hop on a Greyhoud bus to New York myself and gag him with a big ball of...suede. The fabric. And then I'd go check up on Daniel...you know, see how he's doing.
This was the first episode I really enjoyed (I know it's only the third...please don't feel compelled to remind me of that...), and despite my better judgement, I'm actually enjoying Blayne...just a little bit. Yes, his compulsion to be the originator of the next PR catchphrase is a bit desperate, but getting Tim Gunn to "holla back" was a weird mix of heartwarming, sad and surreal.
But the most notable components of the show had nothing to do with the designers. In fact, one of them had nothing to do with last night's episode at all. But more on that later.
First, can someone please tell me what the f happened to Sandra Bernhard? I mean, am I crazy or did she look completely fillered-up? I know she's never been what you might call a "classic beauty" but there was a certain attractiveness to be found in the asymmetry of her features (a strange combination of hard and soft, accentuated by that curling lip of hers). But I wonder if I'm reacting to the act that she did it, more than how she looks. I guess I always thought Sandra Bernhard would be above such things? Then again, maybe she didn't do it and just was a little puffy that day. Ladies, care to comment?
Now, back to what everyone was talking about yesterday. In case you didn't hear, some interesting little facts have come out in the course of the lawsuit between Bravo and The Weinstein Brothers over the program's move to, ugh, Lifetime. Aside from the standard revelations (the Weinsteins apparently hate Bravo management...wow, really?) it was revealed that Tim Gunn received a salary of nothing for the first season of PR. NOTHING! Zero! Nada! Can you believe that? Talk about a travesty? I guess they realized early on that he, not Heidi, is the foundation of the show, so by the second season he was earning a whopping $2,500/episode.
Now that tour I saw of Tim's apartment in some magazine is making a whole lot more sense. What's the deal? Is Tim a martyr or a moron? I guess it's kind of moot now, as it's all worked out (though his spin-off show left much to be desired...like a better co-host), but I just found that shameful.
All right, about the designers: Emily's dress was dreadful, and she should've know after Tim's consult. But "hangin' by a thread" Jennifer was just as dreadful. I really thought she was getting the heave-ho when Heidi said she didn't want to see anything more from her.
I actually thought Keith might win this one, based on how they were setting the episode up. And I thought it was a good representation of his inspiration, but it was in the end too shapeless in form.
Kenley's dress as the winner? Not sure I agree. I really loved Terri's, and I'm sticking with my prediction that she'll be in the final three. But how weird was Sandra Bernhard's little riff on the attitude of the dress?? She was walking a fine line there, dontcha think?
I'm still totally hearting Daniel and Joe (who looks like the rock & roll brother of Tom from Queer Eye) and Stella is totally entertaining. She's like Cher on crack. Too bad she's so one dimensional in her designs though; she's either going to surprise us all (and herself) or be riding a double-decker bus home to her leatha-cave.

Leathuh girl made me giggle when she said, "What a gay little grommet." I'm thinking of writing the children's book.

Well lets hope that the Weinstein brothers come to their senses and stop the nitpicking banter back and forth with Bravo's management. Although Bravo's management is probably the culprits who are bringing us all the slime of things like the Housewives of Orange County, that low-life, no talent Kathy Griffen and that waste of human flesh and botox Jeff from Flipping Out. These of course pale when compared to the trash of Date my Ex. But of course these are from the brain dead and boring programming department. They are the ones that need to be sued!!!
Project runway needs only to tone UP the quality of the designers that they select. Some are so "ho-hum" and predictable that you wish the episode was over so you can see them clean up their space! Tim is more of an anchor to that show than anyone including the boring and always-snotty Nina and Michael. There are two that theen to be sent to clean up their space and leave. There are far better and more "human" judges in the fashion industry than those two self centered, self flattering egotistical camera hogging individuals. On and while we're at it there Weinstein Brothers, lets spend some of the abundance of cash that you are raking in on this show from sponsorships and re=do the boring set. Its tired and oh so past it! If you take this very good (no longer excellent) progarm to the end of gthe line cable channel called Lifetime, it will be the death blow. Lifetme cant seem to set a schedule for any reason. Don't get used to a show in a certain locked in time slot. It won't happen on Past Lifetime Network. Horrible shows, boring self made movies. The only saving grace for this Past Lifetime network are shows like the Golden Girls, The Nanny , Frasier and Mad About You. Thats about it. So Weinstein Brothers, face it! Unless you want this phenominal show buried behind Reba and a host of other horrible programs, kiss and make up with Brave and stay where you are.

Somebody needs to tell Suede that the name's already taken, and has been for a long time, by fab lesbian singer Suede, out of Baltimore.

I think Sandra looks like she has maybe put on a little weight, but not like she has had any work done (she's still fabulous to me, regardless). Certainly not like Madonna these days. Where did those new cheeks come from?!
