Time Warp! MTV Remaking "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"

MTV is planning to film a remake of the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, according to Variety.
Here's my initial response to the news: Why bother? Seriously, I just don't think MTV can top this all-out freakfest.
The original script will be used for the remake, Variety reports. But—get this—new music might to be added to the mix. This does not sit well with me. New music? From whom? Katy Perry? The Pussycat Dolls? The Jonas Brothers? How dare you, MTV!
Let's talk about casting. Can anyone take the place of Tim Curry as Transylvanian transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter? My fear is that MTV will squeeze Pete Wentz into Dr. Frank-N-Furter's corset. Okay, maybe that's not such a bad idea. And I'm almost scared to say it, but might Amy Winehouse work well in this role?
(Getty Images) And what about Riff Raff? I imagine MTV going after 50 Cent for that role. Okay, that might be interesting. Oh dammit -- then there's Janet! And Brad!
I don't know. Maybe MTV making a remake isn't as terrible as I first thought. I know for sure that MTV will never top the beloved original, but maybe it would be interesting to see what a new generation of stars would do with material that even today remains wonderfully subversive. Plus, maybe kids who haven't been exposed to the original film will be inspired to check it out.

Seriously what are these people thinking why do they have to mess with complete classics are they that talentless they cant think of new ideas. A remake will be crap it wont ever live up to the standards of the original and my fear is making the whole "Rocky Horror" a laughing stock.

Well, I'll never say never.
Maybe with Jonathan Rhys Myers as Frankenfurter (if he can sing) and Hunter Parrish (Showtime's Silas Botwin) as Rocky Horror, it may make take the edge off what are sure to be MTV's many errors.

What fun! Who cares if it's crap? It won't take anything away from the original. And, no, no one can possibly top Tim Curry. If they get Johnny Dep, they sould get Helen Bonham Carter (kidding). What about David Bowie? How old is he these days? Maybe they can diversify it a little and cast Macy Gray in there somewhere. She's fabulous and she can act!

Good lord... It's true: it's all been done. The "Psycho" remake
sucked. Duh. Why even bother???
Of course it will suck. How many famous modern paintings have you looked at and said "I could do that..."? The point is, you didn't.
It was somebody else's brilliant idea. Now you're a copycat.
Somebody stop them before "The Wizard of Oz" gets remade with
Lindsay Lohan as Dorothy.
