Hot topic! McCain in bed with Manhunt?

Mccainblog(Getty Images)

UPDATED! The blogosphere is buzzing with the news that gay sex site Manhunt.net's cofounder Jonathan Crutchley has stepped down as chairman of the company after it became known he contributed the maximum possible amount ($2,300) to John McCain's presidential campaign.

Towleroad and Huffington Post blogger Andy Towle pointed out August 14 that Crutchley confirmed his contribution and defended his "Massachusetts Republican" political stance on August 10, 2008, in the comments section of a 2007 interview on Online Personals Watch. (It doesn't appear the comment is showing up currently.)

UPDATE! Crutchley has stepped down as chairman of Manhunt on August 15. Here's an excerpt from the statement to Manhunt members by co-founder Larry Basile (you can read the whole thing in the comments below, too):

"It should be known that Jonathan Crutchley's donation to McCain left the entire Board in disbelief. I am disappointed that we have lost some customers, and I understand the anger. It is too bad for the web site if we lose customers, but PLEASE never refer to me as a Republican. I consider it an offense.

"Earlier today, at the request of the Board, Jonathan has stepped down as Chairman. Sincerely, Larry Basile."

That's some quick damage control ... and, I'm presuming, a lot of angry gay customers.

According to Towle, Crutchley's original comment said:

"Welcome to the age of the internet, where everyone’s private life becomes public. Yes, my contribution to John McCain’s campaign for president was listed on the Huffington Post. I believe McCain will be a better commander-in-chief than Obama, who also opposes gay marriage. If we have an experienced, seasoned person defending the country in this dangerous age, we will be able to argue about the gay agenda later. Yes, I am a Massachusetts Republican, which is about the same as being an Alabama Democrat. But don’t call me a 'liberal.' That's an insult."

Was the Manhunt board right to ask Crutchley to step down, or should an individual be able to contribute however he wants as long as it's a personal donation?

To me, the craziest part of Crutchley's original comment is the cavalier attitude toward online privacy. Does everyone's private life become public on Manhunt.net?

McCain has spoken out against gay adoption, too...his anti-gay stance goes way beyond gay marriage.

I think he should be able to donate as he ses fit. I think it will come back to bite Mc Cain in the ass which is a good thing. In the long run I think it will help us elect Obama........-:)

Well now, Manhunt is just donating back to the people who support Gay prostitutes,... the Republicans. "Don't ask, Don't tell my wife."

Everyone should read the Out article about these Manhunt founders (see the URL). They profit $2.4M a month, almost $30M/year yet don't contribute to any gay political support organizations (their profit is more than the two largest). In my mind, they have siphoned the blood and money of gay men by capitalizing on their obsessions. If only they supported causes by giving back to the community rather than tearing it down... Their token safe sex reminders or links are really the limit to their charity. I hope they do support McCain and continue their mindless, selfish ways for the gay community.

It's great he supports McCain. Show's he is not a SOCIALIST pig like Obama and anyone else who supports liberal politics.

people should be able to do whatever with their money... It s what make this country so great

It may go a long way towards making McCain change his views, but keep in mind, Obama has flipped and flopped over gay issues like everything else. Would either canidate stop legislation because of a personal outlook, or run with what the people want. McCain has a right to his beliefs, but if you trust Obama to champion us, you are in for a rude awakening. As for the donation, IT'S NONE OF OUR BUSINESS.

Um.. maybe the founder of manhunt doesn't agree with obama on many policies. I know I don't and its not like obama is the savior of gay people. Mccain is horrible, he is as socialist as obama. But if you hate liberal politics mccain is your only viable choice. Gay does not mean Democrat.

This goes under the heading of "Self hating homosexual capitalist pig"
He's an obtuse, groveling, sycophant. All his money dose not make THEM not call him a faggot!

1st- Any sensible gay person with the least bit of common sense should boycott manhunt
2nd- Gay marriage isnt as simple as people make out to be. The best way to go about this is to let each state decide and if there's an opposition challenge it in the supreme court. Constitutional amendments don't happen very often for a reason, they are very difficult to pass (the courts is our best bet).
3rd- Obama is far more accepting of gay rights than McCain.

I think that he has the right to believe and do whatever he wants. However, I think he also deserves the consequences of his actions; and personally, I believe any gay man that has supported manhunt in anyway should pull that support immediately. Otherwise, they are no better than Crutchley (unless they agree with him).

He can do whatever he wants with his money, but this makes me glad that I'm not among those who are filling his coffers. For those of you who think that "liberal" is a dirty word, "evil conservative asshole" isn't the only alternative. And if you think McCain's "service" will make him a better president, you should check out his actual record - it's not very different from Dub-yah's...he was a mediocre student who only got into school because of his connections, and turns out he wasn't that great a soldier, either...he crashed a few other planes before he was finally captured. I'm no Obama-lover, but he's still a damn sight better than a continuation of the current corrupt and failed administration.

THIS IS AN EXTREMELY IMPORTANT COMMENT. I JUST GOT IT AS A MEMBER OF MENHUNT.NET, AND ALL THOSE WHO HAVE READ THE ABOVE STORY SHOULD READ THIS STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF MANHUNT.NET:

STATEMENT FROM LARRY BASILE, FOUNDER AND MAJOR SHAREHOLDER OF MANHUNT

There has been a depiction this week of MANHUNT being Republican.

All my life, I have never voted to the right, and have always been generous to
20th Century Democrats, Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, HRC, and the
NGLTF.

I was arrested at the Supreme Court and FDA in Act-Up actions, and was the
founder of the Grass Roots Gay Rights Fund, which over the years has raised
more
than $800K.

I was the Treasurer of Out Week magazine, which was a powerful force in its
time.

I began giving Obama donations in March 2007, and I have sent several checks
that have yet to be reported. The hat and t-shirt I wear say “Obama for
President”, as does the sign in front of my house. I refuse to live in a
country that is so marred by war and hate. To me, Barack is by far the best
candidate, probably better than we deserve.

It should be known that Jonathan Crutchley’s donation to McCain left the
entire
Board in disbelief.

I am disappointed that we have lost some customers, and I understand the
anger.
It is too bad for the web site if we lose customers, but PLEASE never refer
to
me as a Republican. I consider it an offense.

Earlier today, at the request of the Board, Jonathan has stepped down as
Chairman.

Sincerely,
Larry Basile

Can anyone tell me why socialism is bad? Please spare me the socialism = communism excuse. Give me a deeper, more meaningful answer.

Anyone's political choices are his own; but I can't help commenting that a vote for McCain is a vote for the end of America as we know it. The current mock-Republican party, with McCain in their pocket, are disrupting our society as rapidly as they can. Anyone who votes for McCain in the fall is on my list of anti-Americans. And it saddens me that our political dialogue has been so abused.

Excellent, I also support McCain, how stupid to believe Obama would do anything good for gay and/or lesbians, other than wanting your votes. Don't ask, don't tell is maximum liberty because would you ever come out if you are straight? Sorry guys, I am gay and queer and could not care less about your gay politics, weird US invention.

Thank god he gave the money to McCain..its about time people realized how much of a phony obama is...and what a liar he will turn out to be.

This doesn't surprise me. I feel most of the gay personals operations really USE gay men for all they can get. They list all the members who really are not real members but those lured to place a FREE ad. Then if you want to connect you both pay through the nose. I will not support anything along this line. This individual has the right to do whatever he wishes, but I have the right to not support his political beliefs that I feel are not good for the gay community...Turn off your membership and send a message...

screw em and boycott em. Fag-hating fags.

screw em and boycott em. Fag-hating fags.

It is about time a gay business leader is intellectualy honest with his political beliefs and has the "courage" to admitt his convictions. If more gay and lesbians did that, the overall LGBT community would know that being a liberal is not the only option if your "gay". I applaud the owner of manhunt and will renew my subscription for a year to show my support. At least we won't have to worry about his company printing one sided biased stories about gay republicans like "OUT" did without interviewing One gay republican! It's time the LGBT community STOP assuming that if you're gay, you have to be a liberal democrat! Think about it, why are we allowing them to pander to us, play lip service to us, then do no better than the conservatives? I'm a proud member of the American citizenary, who happens to be gay, who happens to find public servants in the republican party more in line with my moderate social views, my fiscal conservative ideas, as well as individual freedoms and personal responsibility that is advocated by the party. When are you going to realize that socialism (the modern democratic party) takes your personal freedom away? When are you going to realize that Sen Obama is pandering to you, yet has the same opinion of gay marriage as Sen. Mc Cain, yet Sen Obama wants to raise your taxes, institute "universal healthcare" a.k.a. "SOCIALIZED MEDICINE" as well as serve a second term Jimmy Carter presidential term? The policies Sen Obama is advocating is the same policies as Jimmy Carter, i.e. "windfall profits tax" as well as "international foreign policy". The weakness Jimmy Carter displayed with Iran insisting the Shaw of Iran allow the Ayatola Khomeni (pardon probable mispeling of name) back into the country ushered in the extreme islamo facist movement that produced the largest state sponsor of terrorism this world has seen since the fall of USSR! Is this the kind of weak, ignorant, inexperiencd leader we want in Sen Obama? Wake up and realize the Democrats are not your friend. Anyone who wants more of your money, more of your freedom, aka, the passing of stupid laws that slowly take away individual rights. i.e. smoking bans even in bars, now proposed anywhere in public in the city of LA, cell phone use prohibition etc, is nothing less than a socialist. If you dissagree with them, they try to shut you down, call you names, etc, which is modern day FACISM!
Yes! I'm excited there is Man of courage here. If you want to shut him up, you might as well call yourself a facist, because that is exactly what you are!

He can donate to who he wants but it is not wanted by McCain and will be returned to him because of who is is and how he makes his money.

An Addendum to my previous comment. After reading the statement posted by the "owner" of manhunt.net I will investigate to see if those comments are true. If so, I will make known to him that I'm a proud American who happens to vote my brain (republican) and not my knee jerk reactions to every whim that liberals have to divise ways to take more of our individual freedoms under the guise of "public safety, etc" If he does not like that fact, he can happily refund my money and I'll send that to Sen. Mc Cain since he needs it to confront the Koolaid Drinking Mainstream Media who is in the Tank for Sen. Obama.

At this point, I hope McCain wins. Four more years will not be that bad. Hilary in 2012 baby!

It is important to remember that the gay and lesbian community is not a monolithic voting block. In fact, in the last election over 35% of gays and lesbians voted for President Bush. The actual number of gays and lesbians voting for Bush was probably much higher, as this 35% figure was based on self-report, face to face exit polling. Equally disturbing is the vitriol directed at John McCain. One must remember that Barack Obama is against gay marriage and voted against social security reform that would have allowed gay and lesbian partners access to a loved one's social security benfits should they pass on. McCain supported gay and lesbian rights in this important vote. Barack Obama did not. Know the facts and think for yourself.

Well it is his money, so he does have every right to do with it as he pleases, but I'll be DAMNED if he's gonna get any from me!

Gosh I am quite surprised at the Republican support here on Gay.com. I never figured this place to be a Republican haven. That said....I voted republican in the last two elections....which I don't admit very often....now it's public knowledge! LOL

Last time I checked, Congress passes laws and the President just signs them (99.9% of the time). We've had a Democratic house and senate for years now, and yet we have no pro-gay legislation. It's just lip service. To categorize either party as being pro-gay is crap. Neither one is, although the Democrats pretend to be. In case you forget, it was Bill Clinton who signed DOMA, not Bush. Tell me how that is pro-gay!

Oh I almost forgot, GLOBAL WARMING IS A BIG FAT LIE! http://video.google.fr/videoplay?docid=-4123082535546754758

I personally think his contribution is right. I will go one further, I fought for my country and know gays can be in the military and do a great job. McCain is not stupid, we all knew some one that was gay while in the military. I am voting for McCain too and I am and always will be a die hard Democrat. I do not trust Obama and pray he does not become president. I will vote for every Democrat on the ticket on election daybut Obama. One reason he scares me is I am a Jew and his comment on the mid-east are not right. So I have given two reasons for voting for and giving money to McCain.

Public life to al members os Manhunt.net did you say ?........

You know what you wanted to say.

As public as you want it to be. Am I wrong ?

It's true, a persons money and how they use that is their own business. However, keep in mind that the money that he earned is YOUR money. And he's using YOUR money to support the candidate that is against gay rights, adoption, marriage, doesn't know if a condom helps prevent the spread of HIV, doesn't want to leave Iraq, despite the fact the Iraqi people want us out, and has NO progressive values whatsoever. He can't even comprehend that gay couples adopting would be a "two parent" household.

I, personally, will vote for Obama. If you have taken the time to visit his website, you will see that he DOES support expanding the rights of homosexuals, including expanding the Hate Crimes Statue. Look for ANYTHING that is "Pro-Gay" on McCains website. It's not there.

Wow...I'm amazed after years and still more years to come of us gays defending our rights we're going to attack someone who is expressing his. Since before stonewall we've argued that we should have every equal right as our hetero counterparts and now that someone dissents he gets attacked. I support all in their rights to freedom and gays attacking other gays for who they vote for is completely counterproductive. I have no problem with Christians protesting us cause thats their right. Its when we start saying you have to do this or that, that we loose the true purpose to democracy, god forbid we have different opinions.
And as to the person commenting on how much money the owners make and how they give no money to gay causes all i have to say is grow the f up. We live in a capitalist economy and what they do with their own money...the money the earned (aka not you) is their own business. How many hetero businessmen dedicate money to hetero causes, thats ridiculous and you shouldnt be able to vote.
Start acting like humans, not gays, not lesbians, not a race, not something better or worse than the rest of the world and maybe we'll finally get respect.

I will be boycotting Manhunt. There are other internet services which support us in a more positive way.

I will be boycotting Manhunt. There are other internet services which support us in a more positive way.

Why should gay people have similar political convictions? I think Mr. Manhunt or whatever his name has the rights to support who he wishes to. If we have to bitch about gay people being supporters of the Republican Party then we also ought to question how on earth Americans (gay Americans inclusive) elected Bush for a 2nd term despite having witnessed his bad leadership on his first term.

All in all, if being gay means having to submit to a set of political convictions, lifestyle etc...we are no better than the old repressive baby boomers in the Republican party.

While not a supporter of either Obama, nor McCain, I agree with those who say, we should be allowed to do what we want with our money as we see fit, and we should be able to vote for who we want, but then we have to stand up and take blame for whatever consequences take place while that candidate is in office. While gay rights seems to be a big issue here in paritcular, I am equally concerned about the Obama written and introduced Senate Bill 2433, the Global Poverty Initiative, where we will end up giving 0.7% of our GNP to fight global poverty, on top of what we are already giving, this equates to an additional $64 Billion a year and $845 Billion in the next 8 years, and while I believe in assisting don't we have enough issues here at home that should be taken care of first. Having spent time working in a Government Office, I watche funds get cut for domestic programs to pay for the war in Iraq. Sadly the person that endorsed this Obama written bill was Senator Biden, the man on the top of Obama's running mate list. So, now where do we go, I think this may be the first election I chose not to vote in.

It is unfortunate that the republican party is associated with religious social-bigotry, but this is a dying trend. And while the republican party is (decreasingly) often polluted by lack of social-individualism, the dem party is intensely polluted by varyingly socialist (unAmerican) principles antithetical to individualism; economically, capitalistically, constitutionally, and internationally. The only people who discredit self-interest as sufficient motivation for social justice are those who lack it themselves. They favor forgiveness for self-irresponsibility, deny the reality of natural born enemies, and snub pride in and seek to weaken personal power. The better "big business" does, the more employees they have, and the better their employees do. You raise the standard by raising the top; by caping the top you demote and/or layoff the subordinates. America is the dominant and most innovative nation for a reason!

I want a president with the fortitude for realism, and a strong sense of pride in personal power, our independence as a nation, and self-responsibility! And while there is no doubt that McCain would lose to Obama in a male modeling competition, where McCain is comprehensive ... Obama tends to be pedantic, and either overcompensative or undercompensative. Obama presents an attitude of tolerance toward anti-democratic terrorism, and advocation for government takeover; the weakening of business and amendment rights, the eschewing of laws (like on immigration); economic and self-sacrificial slavery.

It is insulting and self-debasing to presume that all blacks, women, or gays, should unconditionally cling to the dem party for affirmative action, abortion, gay marriage and openly gay military service, regardless of consideration for more dire issues. Especially because McCain is largely a social-liberal anyway.

My life encompasses being gay; being gay does not encompass my life. A truly self-loathing homosexual is one who would require a president's, party's, or anyone else's acceptance, for validation of their sexuality. There ARE more critical political issues than gay marriage and openly gay military service. But McCain doesn't even oppose gay marriage. He wants it to be a state issue and out of his hands.

“As with most issues vital to the preservation and health of civil society, the basic responsibility for preserving and strengthening the family should reside at the level of government closest to the people. In their wisdom, the Founding Fathers reserved for the States the authority and responsibility to protect and strengthen the vital institutions of our civil society. They did so to ensure that the voices of America's families could not be ignored by an indifferent national government or suffocated through filibusters and clever legislative maneuvering in Congress.” -- McCain's Website on Gay Marriage

America is culturally losing social-conservativeness, and we are witnessing a dying out of the social-conservative trend in the republican party, largely due to next-generational influence moving in. Regardless of what McCain may personally believe "marriage" to be, his legislative ACTION would be to leave it up to the states. And I see no reason to think that McCain would explicitly state that the meaning of “marriage” should be decided by the states if he didn't strictly mean exactly that.

There are ways to convey that you're gay (in the military) without asking or telling. So the real issue there is "acceptance." But you can't legislate acceptance. There are always going to be bigots, even if gay marriages were celebrated outright on the white house lawn! People do actually have the right to hold bigoted beliefs. And if those beliefs result in criminal offenses, it is totally separate from a civil rights issue.

The terrorists themselves outright proclaim they are on a crusade to impose global Islamic law. That’s not a scare tactic, it’s the ongoing threat we awoke to on 9/11 -- a cultural war of (secularist) pro-democracy versus religiously fueled pro-global-tyranny, which is unprecedented. It would be impossible for us to combat SUICIDE FIGHTERS, defensively, before it’s already too late. So we NEED a stage for offensive combat, and the fortitude, to exhaust THEM!

The Iraq war was in no way initiated for oil. Even though Saddam/Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, (and no one has ever said otherwise), we were fortunate enough that Saddam’s suspiciously blatant UN violations allowed us to fight an offensive pro-democracy war, (deposing a dictator RATHER THAN randomly “forcing democracy”), in a geographical location central to the “Islamic region,” of critical geopolitical interest to the terrorists, and thus of optimal interest to us against them.

You can accuse Bush of deliberately lying all you like, no president is all knowing, and even if he did accentuate information that allowed us to depose Saddam, even with current intelligence there was simply no justification for Saddam's continued rule. I wholeheartedly support the just enforcement of UN resolution and international law.

Some see invading Iraq as poking a bees nest, I see it as setting a bee trap. Keeping them engaged on our terms. Because when a single bee knocks down the WORLD Trade Center, just "moving on" is simply stupid.

Wars are never ended by choice unless the opposing forces do not present a warring threat after withdrawal. If we hadn't won independence from England, we should still be fighting for it today. The Islamic crusadists are fighting democracy similarly to how blacks were compelled to fight for slavery during our civil war, but the Islamic crusadists' war against a democratic "Islamic region" was FIRST, and remains, a war against our democratic modern world.

Obama seems to be running for president of the UN or EU, but America is an independent nation with it's own separate interests from the rest of the world. Sometimes mutual. Not always.

If other UN countries contributed to our efforts in Iraq we'd have been done years ago. But instead, they’ve decided to be ingrates, and the next time one of them is faced with a war, we might as well sit on our hands.

Presidents can strongly influence but do NOT singlehandedly control the economy. Bush is not a king. Congress, and the public itself, share responsibility. The dem congress has lower ratings than Bush. What has the dem congress done for you in the last four years? You cannot scapegoat the president (or congress) for everything. Sometimes it's the natural evolution of circumstances; the earned consequences of our own drive and ability.

McCain has a strong sense of humor, character, and realism. Obama has "Oprah smarts"; he’s a great salesman, but simplistic and superficial, and lacks patriotic passion for the true individualist essence of America.

“Change” is inevitable. Beyond being “against Bush,” Obama’s “change” is an ambiguously pretentious slogan. The only aspect of history that necessarily repeats is competition driven by human nature. The particulars of history never really repeat.

I hear practically nothing about actual solutions from Obama. Just "bad Bush, bad" and "fill your tires." Dems are big on universal health care, but if someone can't afford their own health care they certainly shouldn't be forced to throw into the universal pot. I know dozens of Canadians who come to America for their health care, because their “universal health care” is poor quality and overbooked.

McCain wants to stay on offense against terrorists (after all, our survival IS paramount), an all-of-the-above energy policy, to prevent the tax hike that Obama has promised, and to not overburden businesses so that they can provide jobs and less costly products and services. Besides complaining about Bush ... what specifically is Obama offering? Do you know? Do you care? Or is the vague idea of "hope" and "change" enough for you?

I've presented this case in chat rooms many times. Not a SINGLE dem has been able to explain any reason that they support Obama. I can tell a handful of them stop and think about it, most go goose-stepping on, but some actually realize the vacancy of their support. I can understand shoving a black president in the faces of racists across the country. But the president should not be a protest statement. Certainly not now.

You know we all got up set when we where attacked on 9-11. Have we forgot who it was that attacked us? Yes we have. We call ourselves "AMERICANS" but yet some of us are willing to put a person in the highest position in our land that want say the pledge to OUR FLAG then he takes the AMERICAN FLAG out of his campaign!!!!! I think any person that is willing to even think of giving any type if support to that PIG needs to be sent to Iraq or any other country that hates the UNITED STATES OF "AMERICA" and see how it will be if that person is elected to be our president. It is not a democrat or republican race it is going to be a free country race !!!!! Like it was said by some one else when it comes to money. If obama had this donation what would have been said most likely nothing so get real people get your head OUT OF YOUR A** and wake up see what that obama is really all about. He is where he came from and not a TRUE AMERICAN and should not even be aloud to get near the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CHAIR. REMEMBER THE TOWERS AND ALL OUR SOLDIER THAT HAVE DIED TO STAND FOR OUR FREEDOM. What has obama done for our country. Better yet what will he do for our country and us. "HE WILL DESTROY US AND WHAT SO MANY HAVE DIED FOR". That will be on any person that has put any type of support for him. Can and how will you live with THAT??????

The Gay community screams loud & long about "tolerance" and "diversity," however, when it is actually displayed before they somehow find it deplorable. This is very incongruous and one-sided. Politics is as multi-faceted as the Gay community. I personally feel that economics and homeland security are the 2 most pressing issues as an American, whether Gay or not. Why castigate someone for having priorities a little different than yours? Although I am not a voter, Ron Paul would be a much more suitable candidate for not only these concerns, but Gay issues as well!

Hillary quit so McCain has my support Obama dosn't know his ass from a hole in the ground!

McCain is far less enlightened than Obama on gay issues, and will appoint Supreme Court justices who will push gay rights back to the stone age. The Republican Party uses gay rights as a whipping boy in almost every election to win votes from stupid and ignorant people, and it is reprehensible that any gay person would support their candidates for any office above dog catcher.

I will also be voting for McCain in 2008. Clearly the this guy is intelligent. Obama is a racist socliast pig and anybody who votes for him is a moron. He went to a afrocentric church for 20 years which is basically the black version of the kkk. SORRY THE ANCIENT EGYPTIANS WERE NOT BLACK! Go cry about it. I'm half Puerto Rican (REAL PUERTO RICAN NOT NYC TRASH) and half Israeli and I'm 100% sure I'm more attractive then the ENTIRE BLACK COMMUNITY. I'm sick of people lying to make black people feel better about themselves. Why are black allowed to be racist? If McCain sat in KKK meetings for 20 years he wouldnt even be a candidate but its not racism or fascism if a negro is doing it right?

All you leftists should kill yourselves!

I do support his right to choose to donate to whoever he wants. I have the same right and will not go to the manhunt website again. I am baffled by a gay man ignoring the huge negative impact another conservative Supreme Court justice will have on gay and human rights. There are so many other areas of gay rights that will be negatively impacted by a republican president. I am an independent and am not usually against voting for a qualified republican candidate but at this point in time a republican president will cause way too many hardships for the GLBT community.

To the GAY REPUBLICAN, Who donates what, is every bit our business! If terrorist were funding a candidate you would want to know. I take a very unpopular view but... I do agree that we DO have the right to know EVERYTHING about a candidate. If they weren't such slimy little toads trying to hide everything and we lived in a fairytale well it would be ok to believe what you are told. But this is reality and politicians have a proven track record.

Besides is there not something fundamentally wrong when people try to hide what they are doing? We are talking about the highest ranking office in the land... Should it not be surrounded with pride and excitement rather than sneaky underhanded deals made in the back alley? If you have something to hide is it not generally true it is because you have done something you shouldn't have?

While I do fundamentally believe in privacy, it is a screen for wimps to hide behind (EVERY TIME)!

It is his money to do as he chooses. As far as the founders not contributing to the "gay agenda", perhaps they disagree with the methodology, which attempts to push an agenda down people's throats. That method failed with the black community. As far as Obama, he is certainly for change, but nobody can answer what change. It is as if he is leading the blind and they will follow like disciples to the voting booth. Obviously his disciples never studied the constitution, never read up on the founding fathers and the principles they created this country, and certainly never read any writings of Obama, which are nothing more than Marxist principles.

HOW STUPID! Is donating $2,300 worth 'turning off' your members? Of course I'm sure many hot for a good time could care less where the money is donated - but Johnathan Crutchley's reasoning is pathetic, for though Obama doesn't support gay marriage, he supports civil union. Well, look at Jeff Gannon, Larry Craig... there are many of 'us' who actively work against 'us' who help create the atmosphere to drive 'us' into shame. Shame drives kink, kink drives perversion, perversion is more likely to want an annonymous 'hook up' than that an 'open' exchange. I'm tired of 'us' playing in the closet... that's what Crutchley is basically supporting. Makes me sick. Glad I canceled my membership. Kept my gay.com, cause at least there are more photos of faces here than butts and cocks...

All of you Mindless Gay=Democrat really need to educate yourselves and take a sincere interest in the way Politics work. So many of my Gay Brothers have this mindset that All Republicans are hell bent on rounding all of us up and incarcerating us in Concentration Camps. !!??!!
When are you going to realize that we live in a Great Country (certainly did not say Perfect) where Pro Business Manhunt Owners are allowed to flourish and everyone is FREE to express their Political Views and Live as they see fit.
One of the Most Important Agendas of the Republican Parties is Not your annihilation but a Pay As You Go Fiscally Conservative Government that upholds the Individual and Personal Responsibility...one of the Values that has made this Country Great IMO. Allowing Individuals to flourish and letting Capitalism Reward them for doing so.
Many Social Democrats..Obama included are Idealists to the Extreme. I do not believe that we can legislate our Society and trust the Government to be Big Brother and reallocate our monies wherever they see fit... Taxing our way out of our Problems is not the way to go...Capitalism may have its flaws however a spineless European Style Socialist Democracy would leave our Country in a worse shape than it currently already is.

Being a republican has NOTHING to do with being gay or straight! I am gay because of my genes. I'm a republican for many reasons which I won't enumerate here, but, generally speaking, the republican party ideals far more closely align with mine. Personal responsibility for you own actions and plight in life is huge in my eyes. Go Crutchley!

Why do some gay men expect that as gay men we must all act in a certain way? I am a man who happens to be gay. Being gay does not dictate who or what I am as a person. We live in a country where we are all free to express our opinions without fear. (Hmmmm!) If we berate each other as gays because some disagree with our opinions, then why do we expect different treatment from those who disagree with our lifestyle. This is still America, where we are allowed to have differing opinions and can express them. To disagree we don't have to attack. Every gay man has an opinion which he is free to express and, whereas I may not agree with him, I will respect his right to do so and my right to disagree with him. I hope that we can all keep in mind that because we are gay, that alone does not put us in any preconceived category. We are men who can and should think as individuals and respect other men's opinions. We don't have to agree, just respect them.
