Sal and Richard From Stern Show Pull Off Gay TV Stunt
Between the tens of thousands of clicks and the hundreds of comments posted to the editorial coverage of the Howard Stern show on PlanetOut and Gay.com this past year, we know there are thousands of gay and lesbian listeners who love to listen to Howard. Maybe even the cast of "The L Word..."
That said -- we also realize there are thousands of Gay.com readers who aren't fans of Stern's, have no intention of ever listening to Stern or just plain don't care.
Well today, something gay happened on CNN that you may have seen and talked about -- yet never realized the Howard Stern connection...
Stern show sidekicks Sal and Richard -- two straight Stern show on-air regulars known to listeners for their numerous on-air gay antics -- pulled off a huge gay stunt on national television.
During a very serious, very live-on-the-scene broadcast by CNN about the Wall Street tumble, Sal and Richard kissed each other furiously behind the clearly confused CNN reporter. For the whole world to see.
Sophmoric and immature? Probably. Silly to non-gay fans of the Stern show? Maybe. Confusing to mainstream viewers who saw it? Most likely. But to all gay fans of the Stern show, it was actually sort of priceless.
Btw -- what was up with the banter that took place by the anchors after they saw the clip?
Watch the clip below and let us know what you think.

I'm an out and proud gay fan of the Stern show and am so glad this was posted.
I love that they did it and I love even more that it left everyone wondering wtf just happened.
I hope Sal and Richard do more of this!

Awesome!!! I love the fact that infotainment got punked I think we should all be doing our part to put these phony self-important talking heads in their place. Report the facts as they are and stop making shit up or telling us what you or your station owners think. I think we should all ACT UP

Yeah what a prank. Lehman brothers sells bad mortgages then it catches up with them and they go broke, but the Chinese won't bail them out because Lehman didn't invest heavily in China like AIG and Bear Sterns.
Oh wait... you mean those two guys?
Well more of us need to show affection in public. It's the last closet to open.
But in the meantime, look up the value of the yuan to the dollar today. Look at how much debt the US owes China and who really bailed out AIG and Bear Sterns. Look at the Bank of America and where their largest subsidiary is.
Kiss in public, because soon we may starve.

This is really funny, but I agree with gueerunity, they should kiss if they are going to do a real stunt.

It was a prank that was it , but while reporting on a sad news story, Leman Brothers failing etc, howard stern is valgar, and that sells today in our society, 2 men kissing is not valgar at all, but the way mr. stern, and his on air personailtys, portrayed there Humor, made it just seem stupid, inmature and kind of a slap in the face to gay/lesbien people everywhere, but Howard specializes in these kind of anticks , so im not suprised.

yes, to those of us in the gay community it may be funny. i'm not a Stern hater or supporter, but those out there that don't understand what was happening in the background will use that against us. we already have a stigma attached to us for being dirty sexual deviants and did that help us? i don't think so. i think the public displays of affection between two men or two women should happen more often, but in a less attention getting way. thats just my two cents worth.

Not a Stern fan, but Kudos to all involved. That was hysterical!

This is so freakin' funny! I'm not a fan of Howard Stern but I'm not a hater either. I guess because I'm a fan of a good joke that it didn't offend me. Thanks Guys for the Laugh today!

Gotta love Howard. It was pretty funny especially seeing the reaction of people nearby. LOL

Sure it's harmlessly funny to non homophobes, but the canny thing about Howard Stern and his minions is that what they do in the area of gay sexuality can almost always be interpreted as defamatory to a homophobic viewer. So Howard, et. al., get to have it both ways.
You can't say that about Margaret Cho, for example, whose work is careful to have a specific, foregrounded, political point of view.
Likewise, the CNN anchor who comments on the fake kissing as two men trying to "console" one another over the Lehman failure. That word choice can also be taken as ironic performance or as mocking.

ITS FUCKING PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stupid, immature, not even funny. And whoever wrote this article, the reporter was NOT "clearly confused"

Sal and Richard are so stupid, immature, etc-- but this is light dumb humor. Lighten up people. And for you non listening Stern haters, he is very much pro gay.

Sill a bit, but fun and worth a chuckle. Lighten up GAYS! take the wad from your panties, quit bithcing & quit making the rest of us look bad. It was fun & funny, that is all... We all s hould do that any chance we get. They were also making fun of the reporter too... Do you see that... & the female anchor was funneier as she tried to overstate the obvious... LOL
