Don't We Owe It To Tina Fey To Watch "30 Rock" Tonight?
After all of the laughs Tina Fey has given us with her Sarah Palin impression on Saturday Night Live, I think the least we could do for this talented lady is tune into the third season premiere of 30 Rock tonight. Don't you?
I'm not on the NBC payroll, by the way. I just feel like we should support Tina, and it isn't like watching 30 Rock is torture. It is a funny series that has Tina playing Liz Lemon, the producer of a comedy show that happens to be an awful lot like Saturday Night Live. Tina is surrounded by a great ensemble of quirky characters, including Alec Baldwin as ambitious network executive Jack Donaghy, Jane Krakowski as diva actress Jenna Maroney and Tracy Morgan as wild and crazy star Tracy Jordan.
Let me add that Megan Mullally, our beloved Karen from Will & Grace and another Sarah Palin lookalike, guest stars on tonight's season premiere. Meanwhile, Will Arnett reprises the role of Jack's closeted nemesis Devin Banks. Now that's more incentive to watch!
Tina recently gave an interview to the Associated Press and acknowledged that she hoped her popular guest stints on Saturday Night Live would give 30 Rock a boost in the ratings. "I would like the audience to go up just enough so that people don't have to refer to it as 'the ratings-challenged 30 Rock' anymore," she told the reporter.
Last year, the ratings-challenged 30 Rock—I couldn't resist—drew an average of six million viewers a week.
Let's get that number up to 50 million!
Okay, maybe I am shooting a little high.
But surely 30 Rock's gay viewership will rocket upward tonight because of Megan Mullally, who plays an adoption agency official Liz must impress to get a baby.
FYI: Aside from Megan, Oprah Winfrey, Jennifer Aniston and Steve Martin will guest star on 30 Rock this season.
For those of you who are already loyal fans of 30 Rock, what is your favorite episode? My favorite was the one that had Jane Krakowski's alter ego Jenna starring in a film with a name that no one could pronounce: The Rural Juror. Remember that one?
And for those of you who haven't watched the show, did Tina's imitation of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live stoke your interest in 30 Rock enough to get you to tune in tonight?

Tina Fey has always been funny. Unfortunately I didn't follow her after she left SNL. (my loss ), After her portrayal of Sarah Palin, I will once again be a loyal fan and start watching 30 Rock.
