Kathy Griffin Commits To A Fifth Season Of "D-List"
Bravo may have lost Project Runway, but the network is holding on tight to Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, which is a relief.
There was actually some question as to whether the inimitable Kathy Griffin would do a fifth season of D-List for Bravo. While the network claimed back in September that it had locked Kathy into a deal, she subsequently told the Chicago Sun-Times that she hadn't come to terms with Bravo and was in fact talking to another cable network as well as a broadcast network.
Obviously, things ultimately worked out with Bravo because just today the network announced that it has indeed signed Kathy to a one-year deal, which she confirms, and it includes a fifth season of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List and calls for her to tape two comedy specials during her current nationwide tour as well as host the A-List Awards in 2009.
Kathy tells Variety that the deal was settled after "a bloodbath negotiation where I won none of my battles."
That's hard to believe. Kathy seems like a shrewd businesswoman, and I bet she got everything she wanted and more—at least I hope so because she deserves it.
So what can we expect to see on D-List's fifth season? Kathy tells Us Weekly that it is going to be more celebrity-oriented.
Asked to name some of the celebrity guests, Kathy said, "I can't tell you, but please call Bravo! I'm actually getting a lot of people that I want to, and it's really, really exciting."
Forget the celebrities. I'm most excited to see Kathy every week when the show returns to Bravo's lineup in 2009.
How about you? Are you glad to hear that Kathy is doing more D-List for Bravo?

I miss seeing Kathy on Bravo. Her show has not been on Bravo even in reruns for at least three months. I will be eagerly waiting for her show to return in 2009. She is Fabulous!!!

Kathy needs to go back to the format that made she show a success--reality!! This past season, everything seemed so staged, and even more than before. You don'y need a lot of celebrities to make the show entertaining Kathy. You are funny enough!

Like every other "reality" show it gets stretched a bit thin with each passing season. KG on the D List went out after Season 1 - sorry to inform she is pretty esconced in the B list at this point - most D listers don't headline Mandalay Bay in Vegas, Madison Sq Garden, Constitution Hall, et al. The "I'm a foulmouthed B who doesn't care who she offends" schtick has worn thin....

Rolling my eyes..... I was one of Kathy's students in 93 at the Groundlings back when she was on the "F" List. I can admire someone working hard as she has done to get where she is now. What I will not support is the fact she disparged "Jesus" and made fun of the Millions of Christians and even those Christian artist, actors, and performers who have thanked "Jesus" over the years for guiding them through life and being a support system. It is Jesus who is the meaning of life for more than her little pea brain can imagine. God forbid if she had said "F#*# Ala!" or "Jews had nothing to do with this, I DID IT!".. the S*#T would have hit the faN! This is why Kathy no longer has my support. I do NOT support an artist or politician just because they pander to the gay community. I use my brain and not my emotion. You should too!

Hey...I saw an episode that Kathy was hanging out with Rosie O'Donnell and was supposed to meet Cher....did that ever happen or is it supposed to happen on the new season???

I'm so glad Kathy is coming back to Bravo! I love her show so much and I just love her as a commedienne. She has that rapier wit and humor that has become her staple. And she is so supportive of the GLBT community. I'm so happy for Kathy and can't wait to start watching the first episode of season five. :)

YAWN. Yet another OLD TIRED story about one of the most underwhelming
"celebrities" in show business.
Can't we be subjected to stories which are more interesting )watchng paint dry or counting dryer lint)... or stories which are less irritating (scratching fingernails on blackboards).
If I did not know better, I wuld swear the religious right had gotten control of gay.com -- and was trying to make us straight ... by BORING US TO TEARS

Glad she is back ! She has constantly supported gays and brought us into her discussions on mainstream TV where we are usually ignored. She has continued to support us even when it has been detrimental to her own career and in a very anti-gay political climate.
We should support people like this who have the balls and the morals to stand up and support us.
I hope the new season is a success and I hope eveything else she does is a success. Thank you for your support Kathy - I will certainly be supporting you.

In reply to the ridiculous posting above from "Iamthedlist."
The problem with this world is that you people take your religion too seriously. We should all be able to talk about EVERY religion and make fun of all of them as well as questioning them - otherwise we get the extremism that brought us 9/11.
If Kathy making fun of your religion upsets you so much then your religious beliefs were never that strong to begin with. Don't blame Kathy for your own weaknesses. Time to be an adult and take responsibility for your own failures.

I'm sure she got exactly what she wanted. NBC/Bravo would be quite foolish to lose Kathy. Her show is the only "reality" show I will watch. It's consistently funny. I'm especially glad that she will be taping some of her tour which I missed live. You GO Kathy.
love,
Your Gays.

Addressed to the little coward Glenn Lennox, I am not offended by Kathy's comments no more than your stupidity offends me. I merely point out that her lack of talent permeates comments like that just like you making your anti religious comments shows your ignorance. Her comments about Jesus only shows her lack of talent by making fun of the Son of God to pander to the God hating, religious hating radical left wing loonies like yourself since the average citizen doesn't find her funny. I alao pointed out, had her comment been directed at Muslims or Jews, there would have been "HELL" to pay for her. Afterall, how many people have died from Muslim extremeist after "offending" the Muslim faith.
If anything, you are being "super sensitive" by your attempt at defending her dispicable comments. Christians are not offended by her, they consider the source, a patheticly lonely, bitter woman who has to make fun of everyone to feel validated. That is not talent, that is sad! You and many others in the gay community will continue to defend her because she "supports gays". I'm sure if Hitler would have supported gays, you would have figured out justification for him as well. That Is my POINT~!
Gays and Lesbians shouldn't just support someone because they pander to us, especially if their character or lack therof doesnt jive with ours.

Kathy Griffin is one of the best parts of TV today! A fifth season is fantastic! She'll always be A-List to me!

Kathy looks like an ugly drag queen...

IamtheDList,
Yeah, a really good argument, Dufus. If you have been watching her stand- ups, you would have seen her go against Muslim extremists, dumbass. And yeah, she talked about the Jews, too. And one more thing, if she didn't, so what? If you haven't noticed, Muslims and Jews are still in the minority in this good ol' US of A. I suppose she's not that stupid like you to go against folks who oftentimes experience prejudice and discrimination. Have you ever thought about that?
Okay, how about this for an answer, how many people have died from Christian extremists, throughout its 2000 years plus history, after "offending" the Christian faith?
Furthermore, I am not a Jew or a Muslim, but seeing you bringing up Hitler as a point of argument makes me wanna know what church you go to, and do a Jihad on your ass. So shut up your-Jesus-who-is-the-meaning-of-life-self, and go drink some Jesus Juice till you choke on it.

We love you kathy!
I personally am so happy for her that now the other celebs finally wanna associate with her and be on her show cuz she's a big deal now and she's finally getting some of the respect she deserves.
She's my absolute favorite comedian and probably the only stand-up comedian I will watch and pay to see.
I saw her when she came to Hawaii and she was the best. Hope she comes back again, and I'd gladly go again.
Every episode of D-list is such a joy to watch. I always eagerly look forward to that time of year when I get to see an hour of her every week! She really does brighten your day.

Love Kathy's comedy and the show. Yeah, some stuff is staged, but she doesn't hide that. It's part of her reality. She sets this stuff up for various reasons (to be funny, to have fun, to get in the tabloids, etc.). As the IamtheDlist comments - no, I don't like Kathy because she is so gay-friendly. She if funny AND gay-friendly. As to her Jesus comment - it was a bit. Not popular, but simply a comedy bit. In the same way that others have made the point that no one gets on tv after losing the big game and blames their god, Kathy made a similar point by saying she won her award without his help. It was a comedy bit for her. It offended some people as much of her comedy does. There are likely those who won't support her or watch her after that. Their choice. Likewise, there are likely comedians out there who, after going off on gays, I wouldn't watch again, even though they may be funny otherwise. That's my choice.

...and one more thing. Those who don't think gay.com should carry such stories...well, I'm not sure what they should do. Gay.com is a comprehensive website. It carries, and many of us want to read, entertainment news that is of interest to the gay community. Advocate.com does the same. In fact, I just checked, and sure enough Ebony (ebonyjet-dot-com) also has an entertainment section. I often see these comments "Why is gay.com wasting their time with a story about" X, and I never understand those comments. If it's a waste of time in your opinion, don't read it. And if you think it's such a waste of time, why are you commenting on it?

I think the point she was trying to make is that for some celebrities, awards are the most important thing for them and she was making fun of those celebrities. I'm Catholic and I think the Catholic League, who criticized her is full of baloney, to put it nicely. No one is asking anyone to make fun of Jesus, Allah, the Torah or even Scientology. Although I do notice Jews have a better sense of humor about things than most Christians who tend to take everything literally.

i can't believe she is still around. her schtick was old when she started her show, now it has just become tiresome and beyond bearable. Stop your stupid whining you talent-less hack. Please, just go away. We can't miss you if your inane chatter is still around. Please for the love of Talent (of which you have none) do us a favor and join a convent or something.
YOU WERE NEVER FUNNY!!!!

Hitler? Nice. This douchecanoe must have been on the debate team.
Dodds Corollary to Godwin's Law:
"When debating a particular subject, if a comparison or implied connection is drawn between the opponent's argument and Hitler and the Nazi Party, the maker of that statement is automatically discredited and the debate is automatically lost by the person or group who referenced the connection to Hitler or the Nazis."
Also, who the fuck cares?

As far as I can see, the reason Griffin chose Jesus was because I have NEVER seen an American award winner say "I owe it all to Allah/Buddah/Vishnu/Yaweh/Satan". No - they always credit Jesus.
And, you know, in a world filled with starvation, rape, torture and death Jesus has nothing better to do than decide who's winning some meaningless award.
When Griffin' made her speech, I thought she was taking the piss out of the arrogant, posing celebs who DO "give Jesus the credit." How many of them live by the laws of Christianity? How many of them give all they have to the poor? How many of them are down volunteering with hookers or the homeless or at an AIDS hospice?
The angry religious types out there should be angry at the celebrities who DO use the name of Jesus as a pose. Griffin was pointing out the hypocritical, self-aggrandizing and self-indulgent nature of anyone getting up there and claiming divine favour in an AWARD SHOW.
As usual, the "literal and limited"
gets offended and upset by what the "ironic and inquiring" might find enlightening or funny.

I am extremely happy that you Kathy are doing another season. Also team Griffin glad your on board...I hope. Kathy I am a divorced man, gay with two Daughters and one Grandson. The gaybie jokes did not bother me at all. It is a personal thing and yes it is more difficult for the gays to be parents. Good luck from me for your next season. Sincerely, Mark Moodie

When kathys in hell then she can truly say she didn't do any of it with jesus.... Then Satan will have the last laugh and she will burn forever and ever. !who cares though she's small and insignifficant and only watched by people who r small like her. The minority watch her and the minority voted for her award and it took all of them to get her on any list... Unlike the celebs who thank god who the majority vote for.... Don't waste your time on another season of this bimbo
