Mickey Rourke Gets Homophobe-y
Part of me can't even believe I'm writing about this guy, but then again, he is in his own way a living legend (just the fact that he's alive is newsworthy). And he was hot in Angel Heart and incredible in Barfly. He's also one of those guys that Hollywood has always wanted to succeed. No matter how much of a screw-up he is off-camera, or how many bad career choices he makes, somebody's always rooting for Rourke.
Well, let's put the kibosh on the cheering section for a moment, shall we? As Rourke's star quotient begins to ascend once more for his heralded turn in the upcoming The Wrestler, the tabs have started following him around again (and this time, not for their "Plastic Surgery Nightmares" issues). Even Rourke seems a bit overwhelmed by the attention, but is undeniably relishing it too.
Then he goes and effs it all up. When pressed about his rumored romance with Marilyn Manson's ex-Evan Rachel Wood (who incidentally plays Rourke's lesbian daughter in the film), Rourke esoterically shoots back, "She's a good friend, that's it. And tell that faggot who wrote all that shit in the paper I'd like to break his fucking legs."
Not exactly sure who he's talking about here, but it doesn't really matter does it. Even his "date" knows he effed up; she gives him an "oh, you bad boy" slap on the arm (at which point, all I can see is him strangling her later...) Look, I know Rourke is one of those old-school bad boys, and that's part of his "appeal" I guess. But there's a fine line and it's disappointing to see him shoot of his mouth in such an ugly way when the red carpet is practically rolled out for the guy's umpteenth comeback. Who knows, maybe a little success will mellow him out and knock some sense into him.
UPDATE: Aaawww, look...Mickey's apologized! In a statement to Marc Malkin at Eonline, Rouke says "I want to sincerely apologize for the derogatory word I used. It was insensitive and inappropriate of me and I am deeply sorry that I may have offended anyone." Considering he got in hot water just two years ago for the same offense, at which time he countered "Look, I'm not afraid to say the word f-g, I've got plenty of gay friends. We toss the word around", I'm betting we hear a new angle on his use of the word in the next two years.

I personally would not put much thought into this piece of shit, he can bash Faggots as much as he wishes........but at the end of the night I am a Faggot but NOT a worthless drunk and drug-addicted waste of human life that he is!!!
I will take being a Faggot, Gay, Homo, Queer, Fudge-Packer........call me whatever you want, but you can never call me a drunk or druggie like this death deserving idiot.

Gay boys are sooo sensitive...... I like my men rough and tough like Mickey. He's the real deal; he will receive the 24th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s American Riviera Award on January 30. His latest film also won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
I think Mickey is a rare gem.

Mickey made this comment after gay blogger Perez Hilton posted on his site that Evan Rachel Wood had broken up with Manson and was probably already f****** Mickey and his mother.

This is for everyone who didn't know why Mickey made the comment.

Umm, OK, but isn't he right? Perez Hilton is a faggot, a proud, out faggot at that. I hear as many gays using the word as I do anyone else. It's just a word and your perception of its meaning is what gives it power, or renders it meaningless. What should have he said? Homo? Queer? Fat Fucking Ass Pirate? I personally like Flaming Fuck-tard. But that's me.

Whew, thankfully he's totally gross now so it's not as offensive.

I am glad to hear Mickey Rourke apologized and that he has gay friends. He should understand how hearing this word effects those of us that suffered more than he can ever imagine while hearing that fucking word, though.

He was hottest in Body Heat
Considering he parades around town with his little dogs like the worlds biggest queen... and dresses like Eurotrash...
He gets a free pass to say faggot
He was way cute in Diner too

You think he did an good job in "Barfly"? He was fucking awful. C.B. even agreed with me, which I did not read until years later. And fuck M.R. twice for saying faggot. I don't like Perez Hilton either, but that's not the word that comes to mind when trying to describe him; more along the "vicious little fucker" lines seems more accurate and tons less homophobic.
I loathe his macho posturing, gonna hurl.
