Clay Aiken Has Nothing To Say To Kathy Griffin

It's probably a safe bet to say that Clay Aiken won't be one of the celebrities who pops up on the upcoming season of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.
That's because Clay apparently doesn't want to have anything to do with Kathy, E! Online's Marc Malkin reports.
Kathy, who famously referred to Clay as "the Gayken" in her standup act long before he came out, tells Marc that she wanted to make good with Clay and decided to go for it when they were both backstage during the broadcast of Rosie Live! "I held up one of those ghetto blasters playing one of Clay's songs, and I begged him to take me back and he said no," Griffin says. "And then I walked out of the room, and Gloria Estefan said to me, 'I told ya. You shouldn't have gone in there alone.' "
Kathy expected Clay would be grateful to her for helping to push him out of the closet that he had been cowering in for so many years. But Clay was clearly not on the same page. "There were no words of thanks or even really any words at all for that matter," Kathy shares. "I would have to say he was not very nice."
Oh, Clay. Have a sense of humor. It wasn't like Kathy was the only person stating the obvious all of these years. Did you really think you were fooling anyone but the most in-denial Claymates? Meanwhile, there are plenty of gay people who are mad at you for making being gay seem like something to be ashamed of in this day and age.
So loosen up, buddy, and embrace Kathy. She is probably one of the few people involved in the gay community who wants to be friends with you these days!
That's my two cents.
What do you think of Clay's decision to snub Kathy?

This was a J.O.K.E. people. Do you seriously believe Kathy had a ghetto blaster playing Clay's music backstage at Rosie's or that she yelled out to him begging him to take her back? LOL
Love Kathy!! Love Clay too!!

Why the hell should he give her the time of day after what she did to him? He has plenty of friends in the gay community believe you me. Last I heard Kathy wasn't gay, she just makes her living mocking us.

I think Mr Aiken is entitled to his personal privacy. At least HE had a modicum of talent -- unlike Griffin. I would rather watch paint dry than to even hear her speak.
The difference between Kathy Griffin and fingernails on a blackboard is that fingernails on a blackboard MIGHT possible be entertaining!
Gay.com PLEASE have mercy on us.... WE DONT LIKE KATHY GRIFFIN!

Gay.com please keep spoiling us with news on Kathy Griffin. WE LOVE HER!! Kathy is hilarious and definitely a friend to the gay community. Clay is just 'ok' in my books and he should totally lighten up. Everyone and their dog knew he was gay, it's not like Kathy outed him! Seriously Clay, let it go!

Personally, I'm embarrassed by gay celebrities who don't take a stance for the gay community and those who aren't capable of making their voice heard. So Clay came out for the safety of his newly adopted child -what did he do for Prop 8?!

I think Kathy is an amazing comedienne and also one of the few awesome gay supporters out there. I love how she said on Jay Leno recently that she is a gay man. hehehe. Anyways, I think Clay Aiken is entitled to living his life any way he wants to and he doesn't have to like Kathy, but I don't think he has to be down-right rude to her. But what can you do? Thankfully Kathy is used to having a bevy of celebrities not happy at her. But for every celeb that is mad at her, there are like 20 gay people who are supporting her in every way possible. BTW, let's pray that the D-List keeps going for at least 3 or 4 more seasons and wins another Emmy for each and every season it airs. I LOVE YOU KATHY!!!!! :)

Kathy is a great Person, with a wonderful personality, I always like her, see her on Tv, on the screen, and heard that her career is going very good. What has been told about Clay is true, he became to be a shame for the gay community, What is wrong with him, he was gave all the support since his american idol appereance, and all what he has done is just hide himself, and try to cover himself, when it was so many people behind him supporting him. And trying to come out clean just because he has a son, WAKE UP! CLAY so many people are already parents, proud gay parents, who has been honest since the begining, without make themselves look like super heroes, as you tried to do. Kathy Forget about him, YOU are much more valuable than him, and you know Your GAYS always love you.. GOOD FOR KATHY.. my best for you Kathy

If Clay wants to be treated like a man, he should start acting like one...

good grief, he's just like all other fags, way too serious and stuck on himself. Kathy rocks, she's just a little over the top sometimes, the "gays" need to back off and realize it's people like Kathy who bring gays into the face of everyone and INCLUDE us in everything, she's helping us. I like ya Kathy, keep it up! Clay, just go sit in the closet again, and pretend to have your happy little family. ~whatever~

Well...this is an interesting reaction. I couldn't count how many of you ATTACK Perez Hilton/Ted Casablanca every time they insinuate a celebrity like Wentworth Miller or Anderson Cooper is gay (when they are both well known to have boyfriends).
So I'm a little confused here. Why is Kathy being defended for doing the same thing as the the tabloid guys?
Is it because Clay is effeminate and unnattractive and those other closet cases are masculine and sexy?
Or is it because Kathy is a beloved fag hag and Perez/Ted are big queens?
Some of you need to examine your double standards on this issue. Hold everyone to the same ethics or else shut up.

It's important to remember here that nobody has a right to push anyone out of the closet! Gay does not mean wear it on your sleeve, and parade to the entire would who you are, and just because you realized and admitted your sexuality on the world does not mean everyone else needs to be like you. The fact that Clay could not have his privacy, and the Gay community mocked him is pretty disgusting. If your identity as Gay is the most salient part of you (perhaps b/c there is no other identity you feel you have), then that is fine, but stop projecting what others HAVE to do, HAVE to be.
Well people say that Kathy is a great supporter of Gays--isn't it the other way around? Gay people love Kathy and are her MAIN fanbase b/c of her antics. Regardless of her feelings of gay people (and she probably does care for them alot), fact remains that she needs this population to continue her career.
All in all--let Clay live his life people, and get your own!

I'm sorry...Kathy only makes her living my "mocking" us? She has been one of the gay communities biggest allies! And you know what, Clay hasn't done crap for us, but he's more important to some of you Queens only because he happens to be gay....now....but not before....so he says.
Is that the kind of "Idol" you want to bow to? Someone who so strongly denied the truth for so long?
If I had to choose, I would pick Kathy 10 times out of 10. Clay needs to get over himself and realize that THAT'S WHAT COMEDIANS DO! THEY MAKE FUN OF PEOPLE!!!!

Kathy is as gay friendly as Margaret Cho. Gay Aiken needs to get a life.

I personally would die if Kathy Griffin knew my name, must less made fun of me in an act.
I love you Kathy!

No one "helps" another by outing him against his will. Kathy did him no favors by including him in her act -- and to pretend otherwise is disingenuous. She makes her living through humor which sometimes includes tearing someone down -and she should be honest about that.
Coming out is a personal choice - even if you're a celebrity. You are under no obligation to represent yourself in a particular way. Having said that, we could use more positive role models who are out and proud.

First of all, I LOVE Kathy Griffin. I may not always like the manner in which she says what she says, but let's be honest, we're all thinking it. She just has the nads to say it. Have you seen Clay's album covers or videos? Kathy was just stating the plainly obvious. There are satelittes in space whose gaydar is triggered by Gayken. It doesn't seem like Kathy's style to be intentionally or blatantly vicious to celebrities. She merely points out the obvious and brings attention to the situations celebrities put themselves in.
Clay needs to get his head and the pole sized dick out of his ass and get a grip. FYI Gayken, take a look at some of your album covers and videos sometime. You couldn't look more femme if you peed sitting down. He needs to consider apologizing to Kathy for snubbing her, and not just for this recent bitchyness. He should realize he needs all the allies he can get and she would be his key to getting back the gay demographic; or at the very least getting some gay cred.
Second, I totally think he should apologize to the gay community for personifying some of the shameful stereotypes thrust upon us by the right wing "religious" zealots of the world. Have people not learned yet that there is a manner in which to come out of the "closet" with grace, dignity, and honesty? Just look to the examples of Portia DeRossi and Lance Bass. They didn't use pompous pretention when coming out. They were honest and open. They displayed grace and sincerity. Frankly, that is a lesson a lot of people in the world should take to heart, not just when coming out.
Did anyone see the People Magazine cover article he did? Gayken's whole stance in that article came off as him trying to have some profound moral fortitude brought on by new parenthood, granted becoming a parent definitely changes a person's perspective. I happen to be a proud gay parent and I love my children more than anything else in the world. I can understand his not wanting to raise them to lie or be deceptive but dont you think you're trying to cling to a high road that you don't belong on? Why not just be honest and admit that hiding who you are and lying about it for so long was not the thing to do.
Are we so offended his gay denial because he is so obviously gay? I tend respond in the affirmative. It would just seem that he was insulting the intelligence of the world audience and they're skills of deduction. It wouldn't have taken Sherlock Holmes and his bf Watson to crack that nut. Would be less offended if someone that we wouldn't "peg" for gay coming out? For example, Anderson Cooper, Michael Phelps, or Derek Jeter. I'm not trying to suggest any of these men would be gay, even as much as we may want them to be.
Whatever his reasons for handling the situation the way he has, Gayken needs to realize that we in the community know better than anyone how difficult it is to come out. We in the community know how difficult it is to feel persecuted by the world for being who the Lord made us to be. If he wants to gain respect and understanding from the community, He needs to get real. Show people who you really are, be genuine and sincere. I think he needs to be more sincere and give some respect to all the people who supported his music and career since he was on American Idol.
All I would want to say to Gayken is this: You are going through something that is not in any way easy for anyone. The difficulty of coming out is personified by being in the public eye. However, You have the ability to make an impact, don't take it lightly. You can help your young gay fans who are scared to death of being who they are because of the way the world and some of their families are. You could be contributing to something that is beneficial not just for yourself but for others as well.

when it comes to a personal matter as coming out of the closet, that person should be the one doing it themselves when they are ready, and somebody else doing it for them without permission is plain wrong, for all that I know, he may have been out to certain family and friends, and what's wrong with that, even when it comes to celebrities, they should also have some private space too.

I think gay men have become so touchy about everything in recent years. It seems that people can tell gay jokes or funny remarks, but the big "US" has to approve of who the person is that's talking.
Lighten up dudes and enjoy life. I mean unless it is a definite hateful remark and meant to be that just let it go.
We are here for such a short time so smile, ignore the slights and go dance in the sunshine.
