Chris Evans On Gay Bars, Gay Marriage And His Man-Crush (Yes, He Admits To Having One)

Chris_evans Chris Evans, the hunky actor who in my opinion was the most fantastic of The Fantastic Four (how many other men could rock blue tights like he did?) and will soon be seen as a man with telekinetic powers in Push, just did a great interview with The Advocate in which he reveals himself to be a charming, gay-friendly guy. If you were simply in lust with him before, you'll be in love with him now.

Turns out his younger brother Scott is gay, and Chris spends a lot of time hanging out with him and his buddies. He has yet to go to a gay bar with the bunch, though. "They've invited me to gay bars before, and I said, 'Look, guys, I've got to draw the line there.' That's where a photo will get taken, it will run in magazines, and before you know it, I'll be living down the gay rumor for the rest of my life," he tells The Advocate.

Chrisevans Scott came out to Chris' mother and sister when he was in college, then he came out to Chris a little later. "I was so glad that he did. That's got to be a difficult transition, but I come from the most liberal household you have ever heard of. And for some reason, gay men are just drawn to my mother. She's a cool chick. I think, like, six men have come out to her. I guess they just feel so comfortable with her, and before you know it, they're coming out of the closet," Chris says, adding, "I think my mother was praying for us to be gay, so at least she got one of us."

While Chris isn't gay (he almost played gay in Milk but lost out on the role of Harvey Milk's partner to James Franco), he admits to having a man-crush. "My buddies always tell me that I have a man-crush on Brad Pitt. What can I say? The guy's great. I think he's a great fuckin' actor, and he's versatile as all hell," Chris praises. "I've never seen a movie I don't like him in. So I guess he's my man-crush."

Chris_evan_20th_cent_fox Like Brad, Chris is one of our straight allies in the battle for gay marriage. "As for gay marriage, it's mindbloggling and appalling that human beings are denied being civil rights in this country," Chris says. "But time will heal all. I have to believe that in 10 years we won't be having this conversation."

So what do you think of Chris after reading what he has to say? And while you're at it, what's your favorite movie of his?

I gotta admit, I don't want to share my huge Chris Evans crush with others out there, but it's hard not to love his charm on screen and off. I think my favorite movie of his has got to be "London", because he had more freedom and less clothing.

This Man is a Dream... the ultimate WET Dream!!!
Why can't their be more grown up GAY MEN with the same HONEST attitude.
So what if he doesn't PREFER to go to gay bars with his brother. That doesn't mean he never went to one.
Have you ever thought it just wasn't for him.
I mean look at him... Who wouldn't hit on him? & if your str8 you are str8. A real str8 man would be uncomfortable.
Give this HOT MAN some credit for at least interviewing with the Advocate.
He gave an HONEST ANSWER..
Were can I find a Hot Looking man with the Honesty & Personality to Match..
Like I said the Ultimate Wet Dream!!
I being Gay have more str8 friends then gay friends, because I rarely care for most Gay "Clubs" Scene.
Besides I go out for me, not everyone else & I never went home with a BF Freak of the week.
I don't come out to EVERYONE -Right away until the sublect eventually comes up.
And all my str8 REAL friends felt uncomfortable about going to a gay bar, ...
But, I said all the REAL PRETTY WOMEN go becasue of being hit on all the time & they really just want to dance without any CONSTANT BS harrassements.
And besides, let someone buy you the drinks for a change.
And if someone hits on you (set your limits), accept it as a compliment.
All of my str8 guy friends and I in that situation ahd the best time, that is why we are friends.
We don't go out to gay bars all the time together. but the few times we do are pricelessly fun.

to be a st8 man and admit to those things CRIS is a friend----those who claim right to be critical please remember we as a people need allies in a struggle far greater than the petty negativity shown here------those who critizise have every right but think lof the greater good not your personal goals. ----CHRIS LET IT BE KNOWN I WOULD BE HONORED TO DO LUNCH AT THE RESTAURANT OF CHOICE HERE IN COLUM BUS OHIO-----THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT -----LIBERIALS ROCK------YOU ROCK-----TELL MOM SHE ROCKS AS WELL

uhhh, highmee dumbass....Not going to straight bars isn't because you're afraid people are going to think you're straight, Am I right? THAT'S the difference. As far as being afraid of fags like me...I'm the kind of fag who protests and works for the change you sit back and take for granted in your fantasy world where everything just gets better on it's own. Wake up dude and quit hating on gays who do the work for you.

It is interesting that such a small article generates so much gut reactions (and a few thoughtful ones). It appears that Chris is open minded and that in itself is a step in the right direction. Is he perfect? No. Is he self conscious? Probably. Who isn't to some degree? My thought is this: people who live in glass houses should not throw stones and acceptance of others is the starting point to better understanding.

I think its been said over and over in these comments, that its very refreshing to see someone so comfortable with himself gay or straight. I also feel that its important that celebrities gay, or gay friendly speak out against homophobia. This isn't the past where being gay was thought of as being abnormal. Its a part of life today, and the only way we will truly begin to assimilate it into our culture is when the people we idolize and look up to in the media, also start showing the world exactly how normal it is. Kudos to you chris for "coming out" and making it clear to the rest of the world that its okay to be gay--Although you are not (sigh).

Hum-ma-na, hum-ma-na, hum-ma-na, Chris is one of the hottest actors around and it's great to see his support for gay people. I loved him in "Cellular". He's the main reason I watch it. I just want to kiss him once, just once...and...maybe anything else that he's up for :o)

I am gay and in the military....have been in for 7 years and love the life but hate the lie....I believe that once gay marriage is legal, there will be a lot more men coming out the closet and finally dropping the fascade. I am getting out of the AF next year.and can't wait to be ME whoever that is...chris you are an amazing actor and kudos for standing by your brother ...my brother is gay also and he and I aren't as close as I would like, but I think that is because I live such a double life....

Great story. Anyone who expects a a straight male star to go to a gay bar and not get numerous repercussions is crazy. I am delighted if I see anything more than tolerance from a public figure. Since he is comfortable around gay men, what more could the gay community ask? The winter snow scene did more than melt the snow, it heated me up as well, hot, hot , hot!

I've been in lust with Chris Evans for a very long time and cam very close to meeting him once but got pushed put by the crowd of people swarming over him. Af for my fave movies with him., just about anything he's in I'll see love the FF movies., he was the best part of them. He nailed the character perfectly. Watching him in tights, and shirtless didn't hurt either., I thought he was excellent in Cellular and I can't wait to see him in "Push" As for his views on gay marriage, and reasons for not going to Gay bars., I say Bravo to him for his acceptance of his brother,. his thoughts on Gay Marriage. I can completely understand his reasons for not., It's hard being and actor., The GOSSIP RAGS are notorious.,

Chris can be gay straight or bi sexual it doesnt matter the thing that matters is you be happy and haveing fun and respecting who you are and what the hell go to gay bars hang out with gay guys just be happy its a short life live like you want to. I am gay .

i love gays

Well can we hear from his brother, who gives a shit about chris. It reminds me of the actors from bareback mountain. They have no clue what it is like to love someone of the same sex and make it look like pulling teeth, and then rack in how many millions while were all starving.

I must disagree with what a bunch of crap or whatever his screen name is.

Wanting to marry in a religious context is NOT out of line with MANY religions. The United Church of Christ, the Unitarian Church, the Reform Jewish synagogues, North American Spiritualist Church, MCC, and dozens of other recognized religious and faith communities -- both mainstream and not -- support and practice gay marriage. The question is whether or not a country that claims it supports freedom of religion will recognize the ceremonies of all of its faith groups -- or only some who lobby hard enough. The rest of the gentle's post is just butkis and can't even be responded to -- that part however, can.

Reyn

This beautiful boy is my sexual dream.

My only witch is suck his tetis. I' sorry but I love him, I love him.

Regards from Chile

give me an hour with him...
OXOXs you are a handsome guy;
for sure

I am glad to know that Chris has an open mind but am a little disappointed that he doesn't have the courage to go to a gay bar without worrying about what gossipers will say about him. This is 21st century and to have a mindset that you will be labelled "gay" just because you are in a gay bar is beyond belief. I do understand that he is a celebrity but that is more the reason why he has nothing to fear because celebrities are just that, celebrities. Anything goes with them, right? Who cares??? I can't believe that he won't be considered a serious actor because he happened to enjoy a night out with his gay brother...WTF??? I think he needs a new publicist...I'm available Chris if you need one!

Never been to a gay bar? And the reason, because it will end up in a magazine? Clearly then homophobia is still in control of Hollywood and its associated tabloids. Hmm, I cannot hold this up as an example of gay courage and acceptance.

That's awesome. He's hot too!

I'm the 3rd son I two older brothers
They don't support me as far as being gay
They support me as a family member
That's not enough it hurts to know that no matter what I do I'm just not equal as them
I hate living thru all of this now
I will be glad when we get are laws changed to help us out
It's all confusing and seems like there is no end in sight
I will be glad when all this is over hopefully in my lifetime other than that I feel it them or us....straights or gays.
Day to day the headaches justs lingers.
I will be glad when I find a man and we go off and live happy ever after. Sounds like a dream but dreams come true.

OMG, I love him even more now!! A friend of mine told me he was gay (Quote "I used to think he was hot. But then I found out he was gay." Unquote)And I'm like WHAT? Contrary to my friend, I was actually excited. Chris Evans is hot as hell and gay as well? My dream man!! (Even though I'm a girl ;D) So I searched and found this article. Even though he's not gay, I love it that he supports homosexuality, gay marriage and the right to be happy. I love that story about his mom too. I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE HIM.
