"Lost" Returns: Was It Worth Waiting For?

Josh-holloway-abc-2 I thought last night's season premiere of Lost was worth the long wait.

Truly, it was amazing. Before every commercial break, there was a mini-cliffhanger that had me freaking out.

That said, I find the premiere hard to write about—any episode of Lost is hard to write about—just because so many questions are raised, and I'm always left somewhat confused.

So let me share some random thoughts about last night's episode:

I loved that Sawyer was shirtless for most of the episode. Lost is a cerebral show, but the producers are also smart enough to take advantage of the island's eye candy.

I was glad to see that Michelle Rodriguez stayed out of trouble long enough to make a return appearance as the late police officer Ana Lucia. How cool was that when she pulled over Hurley and gave him some helpful advice about how to stay on the run?

The scene during which the islanders were pelted with flaming arrows was scary and magnificent. I was glad to see that whiny, annoying guy go up in flames.

Now let me ask some questions:

Does anyone else think that Sun is playing nice with Kate but actually hates her and Jack for leaving Jin behind on the freighter? I suspect that Sun is out for revenge and might even be behind the lawyers who descended upon Kate demanding blood samples from her and Aaron.

Who was that older woman with Ben at the end of the episode? She was the one doing those mathematical equations. Could she be Daniel's mother? My friend claims that this lady gave Charlie a ring at one point. Does anyone else remember that?

And why the hell doesn't Richard age?

Any and all theories would be appreciated.

Meanwhile, what did you think of the season premiere? Did it leave you wanting more?

The old woman was in the jewelry shop where Desmond bought Penny's engagement ring (not Charlie). This was during one of his time displacement episodes. She didn't want to sell him the ring, because she said it wasn't supposed to happen that way. She also explained that what happens in time can never be changed. That if someone dies, there's nothing you can do to save them.

YOu got it about right...it was a FANTASTIC opening two hours...the whole thing kept me wanting more...

For a show that has not always done this, it was very well done last night. I seriously think now that the creators of the thing got what they wanted with a specific number of seasons to tell the whole story...each episode will be pretty amazing like the first season was!

IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH THE WAIT!

Love this Show.
Everyone knows NEVER to call me during New Episodes.
I don't know the Actor's name who plays Richard but I think he is really HOT.
And thanks for having Sawyer Headline the Pic for this story. He has awesome hair & smile. Bod is OK, but his wit & pet names for everyone I relate too totally & where in real life is that type of GAY just for me.
And Ana Lucia,... that was a pleasant suprise.
I would like to see her somehow get back into the show more.
Michele Rodriquez is awesome.

I agree with everyone here. I am totally hooked on Lost again. It was a fantastic 2-hour premiere that kept me glued to the screen and wanting more. I am absolutely fascinated by the time/space anomalies on the island and the characters are all engaging in their own way not to mention some of the eye candy i.e. Sawyer and Richard. It was touch and go for me with Lost, but last season redeemed the series for me. The finale was intense especially Sun's performance as the helicopter lifted off the freighter just before it blew up. I am holding out hope that Jin jumped off that boat and is still alive. I hope we see Charlie again. I loved him so.

I can't wait for next weeks' episode!!!

>"Lost is a cerebral show."

Actually, it's a totally incoherent text. That's different from, "cerebral."

I'M SOOO OVER IT!! This year's premiere underscored just how much this show has ALREADY JUMPED THE SHARK. Seeing Lost's creators attempt to narrate the ceaseless plot permutations reminded me of the geek squad. I'm totally down with time travel and have been anxiously awaiting clues or answers to the show's many nagging plot questions ... but with each 'mini-season' roll-out, the resolutions are as contorted and self-consciously melodramatic as any 'All My Children' plotline.

Granted, I'll never turn down a shirtless Sawyer... and Ana Lucia's brief return was a nice surprise. Overall however, I'm not hanging on every week for dear life in rapt anticipation (like I was during season's 1-3 or so... )

Does anyone else remember in a flash forward scene Jin being alive with another wife and child? I swear I remember that happening. They never showed it again in one of the enhanced episodes.

I liked the bouritto shot and then the guy through the bouritto at the bad other guy

The scene with Jin was not with another wife. It was a flash-back to a business associate of his father-in-law who was having a baby. That was when he was buying the Panda Bear for the new kid. He and Sun were together at that point.

As for Richard never aging, that's just another anomaly of the island. Some people never age or change. I mean, if they can give and take cancer, they can prevent aging I am sure.

I do like how the show is developing, and I do like how they have everything set in stone. Matthew Fox is the only cast member who actually knows the ending of the show. It's very set in how it's going to progress. Leaves a lot to be excited about, since there is only this season and next left.
