Bravvvvvvvo!
When homosexuality can be openly portrayed on daytime soaps without riots and protests, social progress is being made in America. I don't watch ATWT, but I've got to admit that if they keep a decent storyline going with characters I can relate to, I might have to tune in. It is refreshing at the very least, and hopefully another sign of the mindset change we all need.

I was watching this at the doctor's office and some man in there had a fit! He got up, stormed over to the receptionist and made her change the channel. I guess society isn't as accepting as we think they are. And I live in Santa Fe, NM for crying out loud!!! We're supposed to be gay friendly here. It was ridiculous how that man reacted.

A great BIG thank you to As the World Turns re: Luke and Noah get back together again, and finally go 'all the way.'
My family thanks all of you, my brothers and sisters across America thank you, as do all of my patients!

I don't watch ATWT or any other soap, but this scene really moved me. Sure it was "sanitized" for daytime TV, but the clear fact that these two guys are in love and wanting to express that love physically is so far ahead of anything else on television that it sort of boggles the mind. Maybe, just maybe, this storyline will change a few people's minds for the better regarding homosexuality. Bravo to As the World Turns, Procter & Gamble and CBS for taking this chance. I hope they can continue this story for years to come and explore the "Nuke" relationship in all its complexities.

I am really glad to see ATWT is finally getting something going yet again with Luke and Noah. Now please please please let the story grow with these guys. I was getting tired of the on again and off again thing. Let these two stay together and keep it that way.

Where's the sex??? lol I'm glad they finally showed them doing it. Had it been real life, you know Luke would have done it with him much sooner than now. I mean, it's been what a year, two years now? lol
Posted by: Bryan | January 13, 2009 at 02:00 PM
Okay the title of the article said FINNALY HAVE SEX.... if it was not for them saying I’m glad we waited blah blah I would have had no clue they had sex that was so lame I’m glad I don’t watch BS like this... cause they didn’t have sex now when they get a show with a decent plot that doesn’t look so fake as soap's do... and they have a gay couple who will get named or at least upper body’s and then kiss in bed then cut to the afterwards yeah that I would watch cause its more real.

I have watched ATWT since I was 6 or 7 years old, thanks mom, and I am extremely relieved to see such a great story being played out on television. As a gay man I am also excited to see the increase in positive input to the Luke and Noah story. Great job CBS and Proctor and Gamble. Keep up the great work!

BTW, this isn't the first gay sex portrayed on a daytime soap, just the first time this couple has had sex. Passions did a pretty raunchy gay down-low story line a couple years ago. It's hard to find clips of it online, though.

Its good to see a mainstream media outlet portraying something besides the stereotypical image of gays. While its often done in a comical way it only leads to the ignorant ideas that many people possess in regards to what gay people are like.
Posted by: Torsten | January 13, 2009 at 02:36 PM
Superb! Great job! Bianca Montgomery from AMC would be proud!
Posted by: Greg | January 13, 2009 at 03:30 PM
It's good that they are portraying homosexual situations on public tele but, you can't expect the country as a whole to be OK with it. I know too many people that threw a fit that people got angry about this episode but honestly? what do you expect? This proves that we are atleast making progress and that's a great thing.

I didn't even know there were gay couples on the daytime soaps, let alone screwing!
Learn something knew every day!

MikeCanada... a word of advice... If you feel convictions against this television fabrication, what motivates you to log onto gay.com?
Posted by: Skippy Lightyear | January 13, 2009 at 05:15 PM
If this were more like real life, the two probably would never talk to each other again...
Posted by: swim_r | January 13, 2009 at 05:17 PM
Well for crying out loud! Why didn't we have this when I was laid up from a motorcycle wreck and had to watch soaps! Bravo!!! And for MikeCanada...Jesus hung out with twelve other guys. Was with one that was mostly naked in the Garden of Gethsemane, had a "best friend" Lazarus that he raised from the dead. Never married, never had a relationship with a female aside from his mother! Think about it goofus!!

Yay! finally daytime tv is cashing in on gay culture i am so happy now. i loved being used by my sexuality! omg and those boys are so cute. unrealistic gay men my age! sweet! thank god they were both white!
Posted by: mykal | January 13, 2009 at 05:33 PM
Let's hope they fully explore this relationship past the "honeymoon" phase and on to the love that goes with commitment and true intimacy that is more that physical. Although I want the physical part too, so maybe I'm just jealous.
Posted by: tandborste | January 13, 2009 at 07:06 PM
How sad..It shameless!! Arguing, kissing slamming doors to get to the bedroom..can we have a bit of romance..this was dirty daytime..I didnt appreciate it..
Posted by: Julius | January 13, 2009 at 07:16 PM
Whether people like it or not gay people do fall in love and some have sex. I found the segment well done, personally I am tired of seeing every women on these shows in bed with every man on the show. You know this country has come a long way in my lifetime when being gay has gone from mental illness to simply a difference of lifestyle.

MAN I JUST WANNA SAY BRAVO TO AS THE WORLD TURNS,,TO ACTUALLY PORTRAY HOMOSEXUAL SITUATIONS,,IM GLAD FOR IT..

This is a far cry from 15+ years ago, if you remember, or not. Ryan Philippe played a gay 17yo on ...Days of our lives, maybe it was another life to live, whatever it was, it was way more sanitized than this. Perish the thought of any mention of him having sex, especially at such a tender age. The point is, he broke the barrier, as the first openly gay charachter on a daytime soap. How far we have come.
Posted by: Jimmy | January 13, 2009 at 08:14 PM
Roman and Deniz did it last year! Information on their soap: www.rtl.de "Alles Was Zaehlt." It is German but still...I happened to capture the video clips from the soap from a site called All About Strength (not available anymore).
There are other places that have gay sexual experiences in daytime, probably more than what ATWT has been putting out. Did ATWT have a gay bashing episode?
What about "Skins" from England (E4.com/skins). Mitch Hewer, not gay, but a very good actor and dancer.
Anyway, there is a lot more out there than ATWT!

what people need to look at is the love of 2 people and if u knew how hard they have fight to b together and what they have gone trough u would know it wasn't just sex it was making love cause they loved each other
Posted by: thoughfull | January 14, 2009 at 12:16 AM
Yeah ralph there were many gay bashing episodes. lukes first love was straight and told everyone he was a fag noah dad shot luke for being in love with his son lukes mom freaked out and tried send him to a but im a cheerleader place. this relatoinship is one of the best on day time. although there were many other gay characters over the years none were as sweet and honest and without stereotypes. Van hansis luke portrayer has made sure that it is handled correctly as not to offend us the gays not the whiny people who cant handle it. I hate that was watching somehting else that day because i have waitied for a long time to see these two get it on. but i am so happy it happened. and yeah fighting is what they needed to see that they needed each other of yall knew these guys like the ones who watch you would know romance wouldnt have put them back together. it is not have your sexuality used or exploited it is helping it to be accepted by people. My mom is different about the gay thing since this happened and im sure shes not the only one.
Posted by: vejayjay | January 14, 2009 at 12:18 AM
oh em eff gee! i stopped watching ATWT when they rought on that whole amira storyline. that was so lame. but after watching this clip i think it's about time i caught up with this show again. as for "MikeCanada" you know this kid is just out for attention.
Posted by: RobCanada | January 14, 2009 at 01:15 AM
They should of shown them all rubbing and grinding all swetty like. Like they like to do with the Hetros.
And Mom was trying to move out, out of respect.
Why would you make her stay?
A couple of twinks too.
What happen to all the hotties like back in the Old School Days instead of these Wafes.

I'm sure there are a lot more gay scenes out there on the Logo channel, Here! and other places; however, the point is that this is a mainstream American soap opera and it is refreshing to see gay MALE characters. AMC has had lesbians for a while with some pretty intense scenes as well. It is great to see gay males on daytime tv, it is true progress. And, who cares if some homophobe (probably hiding his own feelings) gets up and forces someone to change the channel. It is his anger and his bigotry he has to own, not ours. It must be very burdensome to carry that much hatred around on your shoulders- GOOD!

I watched this a few times when i found out there was a gay couple but they would never kiss only hug which was stupid.. glad to see they are kissing maybe i'll tune in.

WAIT! Who was the top? Who was the bottom? Did they switch?
DON'T LEAVE ME HANGING!!!
Posted by: DyingToKnow | January 14, 2009 at 10:06 AM
Ok so i am glad that there are 2 gay guys on tv... kissing and well a shirt was removed and implied that there was sex involved..
But a man and a woman can be shown in bed with the lovely L shaped sheets why can't there be the guys in bed... i mean come on now... i am for sure the people that watch the show would be freaking happy to see two good looking guys with their shirts off...
just my thoughts..
Posted by: Confused | January 14, 2009 at 10:31 AM
Sanitized for daytime tv?
Where's the sex?
Why wasn't anything shown?
It's phrases like these that make gay men look like we can't sustain mutually loving relationships and only want sex, sex, and more sex.
I personally am VERY GLAD that this particular show didn't show any of the under the sheets action - it brings more validity to the point of having the characters on the show and conveyed in a normal caring relationship - which is what we need to see more of in the media and on television instead of horndog escapades of guy on guy action.
I personally think this is the truest expression that the show could have made towards bringing a positive light into living rooms across North America regarding homosexual relationships - why sour that with these rediculous complaints about missing skin action?
Go rent a porno video if you want that...

Luke and Noah have been dating on and off since Summer of 2007. That's why the title includes the word "finally" (as in relief from a ridicolous amount of waiting). It is wonderful that grandmothers and other adults all across America (as well as their little children) are seeing a gay couple in love on daytime TV. Every little bit counts: "I'm here to recruit you" for the cause. (By the way, there are over 200 minisodes documenting the Luke+Noah story on YouTube, from the very first day they met!)
Posted by: Splashpont | January 14, 2009 at 04:13 PM
First of all, dark-haired guy ("Luke"?) plays the role of a traditional male, while blondie plays the the pseudo-girl. So these guys are not homosexuals, but gays, and this little example shows that gayness is just a version of heterosexuality---which is the only reason it sells. (Btw, the correlation between race and gender is nothing new.) Secondly, you don't need to share a waiting room with a het asshole to experience gayphobia: the soap has obliged by supplying the other blond, to grimace and cover his face during the kiss.

I find this story line rather refreshing. It's about time. I hope they keep the 2 together. Love'm both!

Posted by: jamesangelo | January 14, 2009 at 07:15 PM
that wasn't the first homosexual relatinship on daytime or the first gay sex either.....Simone on Passions is a lesbian and has had a few girlfriends and Chad on Passions was being black mailed into having gay sex all the time. this might be the first male~male romantic relationship on daytime tv, but its certainly not the first gay one or the first gay sex either.
Posted by: cancer_fish | January 14, 2009 at 07:28 PM
I think this is just trash. I would be disgusted if I saw this too anywhere, but i don't watch Soap Operas anyway. If the gay ppl want REAL progress you shouldn't have scenes of gay guys mkaing out and then we assume they did it. This is like furthering, well not really stereotype, cuz it's true that gays are sluts, so I guess it was head on and ATWT just did it cuz no one watches them anyway its all about ratings!!!
