JD Rages Against A Coffee Table On "The Real World"
Did anyone else witness JD's freakout on the most recent episode of The Real World: Brooklyn?
JD, this season's gay guy, smashed a glass coffee table to pieces, and he ripped a phone out of the wall and hurled it into the river.
Oddly enough, his roommates were hardly fazed by his actions. I jumped when he went crazy on the coffee table. I just didn't expect it! Usually, when there is violence in the house, one of the cast members will summon a producer to the scene, and the offending party will be sent to anger management where he or she will discover the root of their rage and, of course, emerge a better person. That didn't happen this time, though.
For those of you who missed the theatrics, it was the boys vs. the girls on this particular episode. The boys were angry because the girls weren't doing their share of the housework. To be honest, I could see why the boys were so annoyed, and I actually thought JD was on the right track to solving the problem when he came up with the idea of making a chore list for everyone, allowing them to pick their assignments. The girls, however, did not like that idea.
But then JD, who was merely upset at first, got more distraught as the episode went on, talking about how he was disappointed in his experience on The Real World because he hadn't found "the family" he was hoping he'd be a part of. Uh, JD, this is a reality show. You probably won't even be friends with these people by the time this season comes to an end, especially if you keep breaking things like coffee tables and phones.
Full of pent-up anger, JD ultimately blew his lid last night when Sarah told him and the rest of the guys that she didn't care about getting to know the boys because they had never made an effort to get to know her. That's when the coffee table got a beat down from JD, then he attacked the phone when Devyn refused to hang up and join the conversation.
I don't mind a little drama on The Real World, but when things turn violent (even if inanimate objects are the victims), I don't like it.
What did you think? Did JD go too far? And should there have been consequences for his actions?

That was mild, I'm a gay man and one ya don't want to piss off. I watch the program and would of done the same thing, good thing he didn't B---- Slap a few of the mouthy B------ That Devon she would get a big kick in her fat ass if it would of been me.
Now that is one two faced B---- that I would enjoy giving a good smack or swift kich in that fat hind end.

Since when is anything on reality television... well Reality? Most of that shit's completely staged and hammed up anyway -- just for the ratings.

Totally uneccessary!! He's a mean queen who can't keep his mouth shut. People trusted him with their secrets.. before you know it he's babbling it to other people.
And for him to make rude comments about the asian convenient store owner when his own folks are immigrants themselves!! Get over yourself JD!
Posted by: PJ | March 01, 2009 at 05:53 AM
Probably staged. Sucks it had to be the gay guy though. As if we don't have enough stereotypes lets add to our list.

I think most of the stuff on their is either set up or egged on by the producers. Also, I think being a psycho drama queen is a prerequisite for ever getting on "The Real World" in the first place.

I know when they filmed the show in Philly, they were staging conflicts at the bars left and right.
One thing I like about this JD character is that he s kinda like one of the guys. Which I am sure many gay men that dont fit into the traditional perceived role of gayness can relate to. This is a great new cast for Real World and watching regularly now. They kinda lost me for a number of years there, including the Philly show.

I have been watching this season slowly come to a huge boiling point. The only thing i might ave done different in this situation was actually crack that centerpiece over Sara's head!! The fact that these guys have been able to put up with Devyn's delusional views on life, Sara'a "I'm a saint" attitude, and Kaitlyn's bizarre and ignorant behavior, amazes me.

I have a few gay friends that try to prove their masculinity by getting into fights, and being aggressive quickly. Violence is simply unacceptable in most circumstances, and more often than not you end up coming off like an idiot that has no control over himself. Sad to say JD came off like that, it was a completely unwarranted frat boy move. Since when do dirty dishes and trash merit a broken coffee table and ripping a phone out of a wall?

I knew a guy a like JD. This guy was a really good friend of mine but with a bunch of flaws. Not saying that I don't have any flaws, but I think there is something harmful horribly wrong with these particular flaws. JD is just a cocky son of a b----. I don't like his attitude at all. I could tell from day one he way in over his head. He's the type that is too quick to point out other people's faults and has a potential of being very physically harmful to those around him. Though I noticed he was smart enough to restrain himself from hitting anyone. He's a gay guy who has gone through a lot, what a cliche. Yes, his dad was abusive, and as we all know, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. JD is trying to be so different from his dad that he doesn't realize he's turning to be just like him. He tries to be independent and thinks he's doing everyone a favor by helping everyone out around him. Yes it's a nice gesture, but just because you think you know it all doesn't mean you need to step over anyone's toes just to 'help' them. This is why he gets frustrated so easily, because he constantly thinking he does everyone else a favor and expects things in return.
Basically JD really just needs to get over himself and mind his own business.

I didn't even know that show was still on; I thought it lost its relevancy years ago.

Gay or straight, male or female, real or fake, attention-seeking whores are attention-seeking whores.
Posted by: Vighorois | March 01, 2009 at 07:58 AM
Does anyone actually still watch this crap?
Posted by: iassos | March 01, 2009 at 08:33 AM
I sympathized with all of the boys because the girls were being really difficult, and I can TOTALLY understand why Deven and Sarah pissed him off enough to go break shit. But I don't think he deserves to be punished for it. He bought a new phone the next day and cleaned up the mess. It was scary, but also warranted I think. At least it got those bitches to sit down and listen!

WHO THE FUCK CARES !?! We're talking about "The Real World" on MTV.
Posted by: tomriddlesmate | March 01, 2009 at 08:48 AM
I was creeped out by that.
He definitely has a rough upbringing, and it doesn't seem like he's really processed that or thought of other interventions to deal with his anger.
Posted by: Jefe | March 01, 2009 at 09:23 AM
typical...queers really are just pseudo-women...ready to throw a hissy fit at the drop of a hat
Posted by: JustAReader | March 01, 2009 at 09:29 AM
I don't know why anyone is surprised when they see the drama on the "real" world. Cast members are hand picked for the chaos they'll provide. They're all just characters, playing their little parts... nothing real about it.
Posted by: SubtlySouthern | March 01, 2009 at 09:37 AM
I think his eyebrows are angry and need rage class
Posted by: madathlete | March 01, 2009 at 10:10 AM
Unfortunately, JD is the most immature person on the show this season (except for maybe the black girl). How come all the gay characters on the Real World are always immature little queens?
Posted by: Josh | March 01, 2009 at 10:35 AM
I just think JD is a drama queen like btch weisel
Posted by: js | March 01, 2009 at 10:35 AM
I know this guy. Hung out with him before in Texas and Florida. He's not like that at all. He's really quiet. It was all totally staged. There's nothing "real" about the Real World. It's a joke!
Posted by: K.C. | March 01, 2009 at 10:36 AM
Forget Real World . You oughtta go into Bear Room 1 sometime. One of the bears forgot to bring his share of donuts on Donut Night and it got a lil tense. "Betterf" then started his potty mouth because someone brought plain donuts instead of glazed donut holes, and next thing you know, the fur was a'flyin'. Mercy.
Posted by: gidderguy | March 01, 2009 at 11:11 AM
And then there's the Cowboy Room. Too much drinkun and cussun goin' on. I won't mention names, like Buckn, but some of the guys are just plain mean and grouchy. (And prolly not real cowboys either.)
Posted by: gidderguy | March 01, 2009 at 11:14 AM
This dude is a douche bag!! Good looking guy, well spoken, but a total douche.. not only is he rude and sociopath, but he is also extremely fake and loves to talk smack about everyone behind their backs.. he's not at all a trust worth person.. as quoted by some of his own roomies, "JD had no soul!" MTV really needs to screen their gays better.. I'd be afraid to be in the same house as this crazy lunatic.. who knows what he's capable of!
Posted by: Richie | March 01, 2009 at 11:40 AM
typical crazy gay looser. sad but 99% of all gay men are exactly like him thats why i went straight a few years ago. had enough of all the drama. married to a beautifull drama free female now, one 2 year old son and another on the way. ive never been happier in my whole life. every morning i wake up i have a smile on my face and think about how lucky i am to have left that horible gay life behind me.have the best now. when i get horny i just have some gay slut sit on my dick and bounce up and down then kick him to the curb. a hole is a hole.its great. Aple pie and ice cream.
Posted by: Timmy | March 01, 2009 at 12:20 PM
Embarrasing tirade. Immature, angry about nothing, petty, priorities out of synch., self centered. Not sure how anyone could our would want to be in the same house with this guy.
Posted by: Mark | March 01, 2009 at 12:46 PM
I was surprised when he did that and it just made him look like an idiot and if he thinks theyre gonna respect him now well then hes gotta another thing comin. I could not believe he ripped the phone outta Devons hand like that it was so unnecessary whether she was right or wrong and I would of beat is ass if hed done that to me. Unfortunately all the guys are really immature. I will say I like scott hes sexy but hes childish too..
Posted by: Jb | March 01, 2009 at 12:53 PM
OMG i watched the episode and TOTALLY would have done the same thing. Those girls are total bitches and needed a reality check!
Posted by: Justin | March 01, 2009 at 12:59 PM
I like real world dramas, but this wasn't that much. No one can beat Brooke from the real world denver. Yup she was a real psycho.
Posted by: Steven | March 01, 2009 at 01:10 PM
LOL -- timmy, timmy, timmy
just had to respond. 'bounce up and down then kick him to the curb" ?? that is the very definition of 'loser'.
if you are really happy.. good for you. but you were never really gay in the first place. str8 or bi guys who claim to just use guys for sex when they git horny (because a 'hole is a hole').. that is the height of mean, nasty, worst-kind of drama that you claim to be free of these days.
Posted by: Josh | March 01, 2009 at 01:11 PM
The real World is like pro wrestling. Except they think it's real. The producers find 8 disfunctional people and force them to live together. Yeah, that's healthy. I think the last real person, was the sweet girl they had in season two. Most are just crazy looking for a place to breakdown.
Posted by: RadioRiot | March 01, 2009 at 01:19 PM
I only got as far as reading the 1st comment by Aaron M. Why does every QUEEN pride themselves on being BITCH? When were they told that being a BITCH that you don't want to mess with is a GOOD THING? When they start out their comment with saying that JD's outburst was "mild", you know that the person giving the comment is a MAJOR DRAMA QUEEN!!! Another example where a gay man hurts the whole gay image!
Posted by: MARTY D. | March 01, 2009 at 01:23 PM
I don't watch the show, but yeah...he went too far. Ripping phone cords out of walls and breaking tables. Sounds like something a child would do...throwing temper tantrums. Plus, he did all that to a girl...LOL Typical gay.
Posted by: Cee | March 01, 2009 at 01:35 PM
@ Timmy....LOL! Does your wife know you're a fudge packer?
Posted by: Cee | March 01, 2009 at 01:42 PM
Who cares?!? How many of you haven't met a guy who wasn't able to fly off the handle at 22? JD's no different. It would have been a different story if he threw the coffee table at one of the many skanky ho-bags in this house? The girls this season are such scumbags it's not surprising something didn't happy on the first episode.
Posted by: Matt | March 01, 2009 at 01:59 PM
Oh puuuuuuuuuuuuuhleaze JD is one of those people who will act like your friend and will stab your back with a rusty knife. He basically told the boys that the other girl was a transsexual and insulted the other girl about her singing. He has no right to be all high and mighty! I am not even sure about his past because every time the camera is not on him he would do something crazy. A rat? Come on??? Most gay guys would not even bother with crap like this. He is trying so hard to fit in with the guys which I am not sure because the blond guy is clearly gay LOL!
Posted by: Patrick | March 01, 2009 at 02:32 PM
JD has issues- he definatly over reacted. He is looking for the 'family he never had'. HELLO reality check- you are not going to find the 'family you never had' on MTV's reality show.
Most of the real world cast needs to grow up.
Ryan is sooooo hot- he is my future husband- he just doesn't know it yet.
;p Call me Ryan I am waiting.
Posted by: Luke | March 01, 2009 at 02:45 PM
He turned me on! The girls need to act like women and clean!
Posted by: porkchopjp | March 01, 2009 at 02:53 PM
This guy is a loser. He's dramatic and backstabbing. He gives the gay community a bad name.
Posted by: brian | March 01, 2009 at 03:53 PM
I mean "please it is so staged". I mrean reality tv is seldom reality In this society ratings rule everything. What ever happened to the true REAL WORLD. The one with true people like Norman & Pedro that actually had purpose and a life. Unlike these 3 second of fame people. Maybe MTV should go back to what they really stood for Music Television and not stupid shows that showcase fake ass wantabees

I don't really know where to start with things such as this, and usually never comment on blogs, however after watching that I have to say a few things.
1. First off the lack of respect for one's self and others (esp since clearly this possessions are not his) is never accepted in society.
2. I firmly believe a formal appolgy is neccessary for the sake of the gay community. This is that one gay that makes the rest of the U.S. think we are all crazy, even if what he did was justified, we still have to be ten times better than the rest of the world to keep a good standing.
3. If this was to happen in my home with roomates.... I would be terrified. Honestly, He would have been kicked out of the house within minutes and if not the cops would have been called.

Posted by: nick | March 01, 2009 at 06:42 PM
just another stereotypical queen acting like a fool and giving the haters one more reason to hate us.
Way to go JD you should be so proud of yourself, you f---ing douchebag.
GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh pleez! He's a flippin' drama queen who is so miserable with his own life he's gotta drum up da drama to make himself feel better! Grow the fuck up JD!
Posted by: Brad | March 01, 2009 at 08:17 PM
First off, Im not too big of a fan of real world but did catch that episode and I did not know that man was gay until I read this article. But I wonder why is it a shock to some people. All gay men are not 100% in touch with our femmine side. Gay men are men just like the str8 men, and when men get mad we fight and throw shit. But Im glad that they finally have masculine gay men on TV now to kill that girly fashionable sterotype. SHOUTS OUT TO JD," Its good that him and the rest of the men in the house called them hoes out on thier trifling wayz!!
Posted by: Green | March 01, 2009 at 08:22 PM
This is a show which jumped the shark about 8-10 years ago. It's gone from having people with interesting, defined personalities living together, to being seven (or however many it is now) attention whores trying to be in the spotlight. In other words, it's gotten boring. Probably sometime around the New ORleans, or Hawaii seasons, the cast started becoming cliche. There is the gay person, the frat boy, the black person, the whiny princess, the alcoholic, the person who has never been to the big city before, and the bitchy person, or the general potpourri person. Occassionally, they mix it up, somewhat, but that is the standard ensemble for the real world.
Posted by: Curt | March 01, 2009 at 08:29 PM
So what! He lost control. We all; gay, straight, bi, or transgendered; have.
Posted by: Roo-roo | March 01, 2009 at 08:53 PM
This guy has a bad family background. Abusive parent.. I think. Even he has tried not to be like his parent, it won't be that easy. It is a vicious cycle. Look at how he showed his anger, and look at his characters from earlier episodes. He showed not respect to his roommates when he got drunk at a bar from an early episode. He did not respect Kaitlin about her personal information. She shared that information with him and later he did not like her, he told all guy roommates about her personal information. That is just wrong and show how bad his character is. This guy is fake. He just thinks he is good, but he is not. When I watched him in the first episode, I kind of know right away that this guy is not as good as he tried to present himself.
