Sean Penn Wins an Oscar for Best Actor for "Milk" - 2/22/09
Sean Penn won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Harvey Milk in the film Milk on the 81st Annual Academy Awards presented on February 22. See and hear his acceptance speech in this clip:
The feel-good upset of the night. While I admired both Penn's and Rourke's performances, I am delighted with Sean's win and his amazing speech that totally pulled no punches against hatred, bigotry and inequality. Who knew he'd be such a powerful ally? Maybe he learned a thing or two from Madonna after all :)

A well-deserved win and a great speech, but he didn't thank Harvey!!!

Who is Sean Penn to pass judgement? Everyone is allowed to their opinions and beliefs ,regardless if you agree with them or not, without being attacked and demonized.

Sean is one of those celebrities that just needs to shut the %$#@ up already. He s an authority on politics, gay life, religion and just about anything else like typical uneducated Hollywood performers.
We are actors...we are brilliant!!! just shut up !

He didn't bother to thank his wife! It's embarrassing for gay people to have supporters like him. It's like listening to child molesting Catholic priests lecturing people on how evil homos are. Of course Sean Penn is a million time less evil but still embarrassing.

It was a great speech!! How dare one of you narrow minded people to equate him to a child molesters!! I'm glad and proud that he made a public stand againts HATE!
