A Big Loincloth To Fill
As with most of the recent remakes of classic '80s films, I'm not sure we really need a new version of "Clash of the Titans."
Granted, the stop-motion special effects (we used to call it "claymation" back in the day) left alot to be desired, but that didn't overshadow the epic storyline, rich with mythical characters -- and of course how sexy Harry Hamlin looked in his physical prime, who by the way is still devilishly handsome.
The remake will follow the 1981 film version of the myth of Perseus, and his quest to battle both Medusa and the Kraken monster in order to save Princess Andromeda.
Aussie actor, Sam Worthington will be taking Hamlin's place as Perseus, and we'll see more of Worthington this summer in "Terminator Salvation."
Liam Neeson will play Zeus, king of the gods, originally played by the iconic Laurence Olivier. Neeson just finished work on "Chloe," which he was in the middle of shooting when his wife died.
Ralph Fiennes plays as Hades, ruler of the underworld and French actress Alexa Davalos has been cast as Princess Andromeda.
The new "Clash" is scheduled for release in March of 2010.

Leave it to Hollywood to redo, and therefore screw up yet another great movie. I loved the old Harryhausen effects. Doubtless that this new straight-to-video stupidity will be full of unconvincing pc effects.

The original movie wasn't 'that' good. So it will be interesting to see what they do with the remake.
