"Twilight" Hunk Goes Gay...For Movie Role
British hottie Robert Pattinson sucked face with a girl in the vampire flick Twilight, delighting teenage girls everywhere. Now, to the delight of gay men everywhere, we get to see him suck face with a guy in Little Ashes, which opens tomorrow.
The period piece set in Madrid finds Pattinson playing Salvador Dali and chronicles the eccentric artist's steamy affair with Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca (played by Javier Beltran).
Director Paul Morrison tells The Los Angeles Times that Pattinson was nervous about shooting the sex scenes that appear in the film, including one that finds Dali and Lorca sharing an erotic kiss during a nighttime swim. But Pattinson's anxiety likely helped make him more believable in the role, Morrison says, noting that Dali had a fear of sexuality.
What did Pattinson think of the scenes when he finally saw a final cut of the film? "I was worried about watching them," he confesses to the New York Daily News. "But Dali and Lorca's sex scenes were, in fact, the best scenes."
I have yet to see the film (believe me, I'll be first on line to see it tomorrow), but I'm already inclined to agree with Pattinson.
Aside from the fact that the 22-year-old is man candy, I am also interested in seeing Pattinson tackle a more adult role. And the fact that he's playing gay is a bonus.
I am convinced he'll be amazing, although I suspect it'll take me a few minutes to get used to seeing him with Dali's freaky mustache. I don't usually go for facial hair.
Anyone else out there a fan of Pattinson? And do you plan to see Little Ashes this weekend?
The kissing scene from Little Ashes:
Weak. My cat gives me better kisses than that.

totally agree w/ Red what was that? it looked like a "I guess since your here and I'm horny, I'll kiss you"
It also dragged a little, sorry but I didn't feel the passion

GEEZ; This looks as if it's synchronized swimming for the challeneged, FIRST time in WATER? come on now..and yeah..My FERRET Kissea BETTER than THAT !!!!

Ok so what did you guys expect, they ARE straight guys, how would they know how to kiss each other? Did you guys even think maybe the director might have told them to just kiss like that.
Posted by: Jermaine | May 08, 2009 at 06:07 AM
I'm fed up with homophobic directors, actors and movie studios.
If you're going to show a kiss, show a passionate one, not just the back of their heads!
"We don't want to scare any one off. So let's shoot it in the moonlight. The fags will think it's romantic and it'll be dark enough so that the straight people that are brave enough to go to the movie won't be repulsed."
We should organize a Facebook event where gay people go to this film and kiss openly and passionately all over the theater. Show 'em how it's done. lol.

i want to eat his ass

ROBERT PATTINSON, YOU ARE NOT EDWARD CULLEN!! GUH!!!
you look constipated in ALL your movies including harry potter and the goblet of fire, ESPECIALLY in twilight, you looked like you were about to blow chunks on the poor girl..
now you look like your about to do the same with this poor man, what is this 2 guys one cup.. STOP THROWING UP IN PEOPLES MOUTHS!!
Posted by: whatever | May 08, 2009 at 07:28 AM
hehe, yeah it wasn't a full out passionate kiss but shouldn't we remember that this is an artistic period piece? the way the water fell off their fingertips, and the movement of light through the water on their bodies was more eye catching i think than a screen kiss....
and speaking of that kiss, i saw it as tender and romantic... not hey we are both horny....
Posted by: Tyson | May 08, 2009 at 08:38 AM
i agree with Tyson...this is a movie...a piece of art....not a porno....it was a "first" kiss....was your first gay kiss easy and slutty...use your heads and stop thinkin like a bunch of whiney homos...doesn't help our case
Posted by: Cowboy | May 08, 2009 at 08:59 AM
That was lame...
Posted by: blahblah | May 08, 2009 at 09:03 AM
I read an article where he stated that he took a Xanax before filming this scene. It shows!!! Argh. No thanks, I'll sit this one out. Snooze fest. Who needs a Xanax when you can get a contact high (or downer, such as it may be) from watching this?
Posted by: rick321 | May 08, 2009 at 09:06 AM
HIDEOUS! Once again homophobic Hollywood gets even weirder...zero passion, zero commitment, zero anything....HOMOPHOBIA RULES....the red carpet! These actors should be banned from making movies...Pattinson mainly.

dali grew up in conservative spain decades ago. there would obviously be a taboo on this relationship 100x worse than now. the awkwardness of their encounter is just indicative of the outside tension and pressure on them. don't act like your first kiss and your first gay kiss were movie-worthy or inspiring. i think the scene was well-shot, and only the actual movie will tell in context and quality.
Posted by: ... | May 08, 2009 at 09:30 AM
That was fantastic and just right for the period I felt the tension that was there the unsureness of it and the very subtle yet exactly bang on passion that was lying just underneath waiting to come out.
I found it SO tender that it was almost painful to watch.
In todays society where we are becoming much more "numb" to sex.
This to me was intimate, beautiful and wonderfully subtle
Loved it~

Straight actors CAN give convincing performances if they allow themselves to get totally immersed into the character they are playing. Remember Heath & Jake in Brokeback Mountain? Enough said...
Posted by: Missing the Mountain | May 08, 2009 at 10:15 AM
I thought it was beautifully romantic. I am a fan of the artist being portrayed in the movie. I found the scene artfully filmed. It is not meant to be a porno. Maybe because I have been fortunate enough to have had midnight swims with a man I loved (although we were naked), I got the romanticism of the moment. Some of it was not so different than what we would sometimes experience on our midnight swims in the lake.
Posted by: Brian | May 08, 2009 at 10:30 AM
I agree with steadibratt on the synchronized swimming part. I was trying to figure out what the hell was going on because I know that any of my encounters with a str8 guy weren't like that, even if it were at the pool.
I was also trying to figure out why they were wearing what appeared to be white boxers or Mormon undergarments. I guess the fluidity of the material was supposed to make it more artistic in filming the "water ballet" sequence.
I sat out on Twilight due to poor actor performance and I think this will be another movie I will miss.
Posted by: John | May 08, 2009 at 01:20 PM
wow, that was a letdown. i liked the ashton kucher / sean william scott kiss from "dude where's my car" much better!
Posted by: Pookie | May 08, 2009 at 01:46 PM
one word. borrrrrrrring.
Posted by: Phil | May 08, 2009 at 01:47 PM
Homophobia? I think there's enough internalized homophobia coming out of the mouths of fellow gay men who post here. To hear people use the word "fag" and "whiney homos" to describe each other does more to perpetuate negative stereotypes than some artsy, fartsy movie. I tought it was romantic. But who am I? Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one! Even the actors!
Posted by: JEP | May 08, 2009 at 01:52 PM
Oh by the way tought should be thought....even I can be wrong!
Posted by: JEP | May 08, 2009 at 01:56 PM
This is a docu-movie.. not a porn... and if you know about the movie and dali (or just simply read the article and not just skipped to the movie) that Dali himself was very nervous about his sexuality and sexuality in general. Plus given the time period Dali lived in... it's not like a lot of guys could easily get practice in dating and kissing of the same sex. cut it some slack
Posted by: Jeff | May 08, 2009 at 02:27 PM
My 1st kiss was full of passion and tongue-battle! I didn't see any of that in this scene...
Posted by: msuboi08 | May 08, 2009 at 03:34 PM
YAWN!!! Who cares. I saw the movie and it sucks. Just because it has a lame gay sex scene doesn't make it anything to get excited about. Geez grow up... you're like those kids who are all "look...boobies!"
Posted by: Jared4everx | May 08, 2009 at 03:50 PM
Wow! Is that all we have to look forward to in the movie? Think i'll wait for the rental on a boring night when i have nothing better to do.
Posted by: Doyle | May 08, 2009 at 04:03 PM
Super lame, too hard too see, first kiss or not it wasn't fun to watch, really boring in fact. Most don't have a first during the witching hour in the water under the moonlight, and if they did I bet it would be a little more exciting and long lasting.
Posted by: loftboy79 | May 08, 2009 at 04:22 PM
Meh. Boring.
The water is a nice touch, but could have been more erotic and sensualized. The kiss could have been too...
Posted by: KniteShayd | May 08, 2009 at 05:02 PM
Brokeback Mountain starred two straight men, and was also directed by a straight director, yet they were able to convey true love and passion in their kissing and lovemaking scenes. I just thought I would mention that for all the people who say "what do you expect, the actors and director are straight not gay."
You see, that's why it's called ACTING -Your supposed to be able to pretend your something/someone else other than what you are in real life and convey that CONVINCINGLY to an audience. Unless of course you are a Bad Actor and/or a Bad Director.
Dali and Lorca are two of the most important figures in the Art & Literature world. If this short scene is any indication of what the rest of this film is like, then all I can say is that they deserved a better remembrance than this anemic portrayal of two such incredibly important and passionate artists.
Posted by: Nightbird | May 08, 2009 at 05:33 PM
wow, that was kinda lame to be honest. I mean, Rob isn't that cute, he pretty much just looks like he is about to hurl. He sucks as an actor anyway, he over-does it with the emotion, so he always looks like he is freaking out or something. haha, and what is with them showing only the back of their heads? haha, we should all go to the premiers and make-out just to give all the phobes a show. And to be honest again, haha it looks like an episode of "Swimming for the Tards". Pathetic. Lol, but I do have to admit, seeing to straight boys kiss is kinda funny, they have no idea what they are doing. Teh hehe, that was fairly entertaining.

This guy is so overrated. He's not even hot. Why are we so obsessed with him? Let the 14 and 15yo girls like him instead. As for me, I'll take Ryan Reynolds.....
Posted by: Kyle2009 | May 08, 2009 at 06:36 PM
what the fuck people if you want to see a damn fucking hot sex kisssing scene go fucking home and watch a porno. and dont diss the actors they are a lot better then you fucking will be and for the record gay and straights you all are hip o crits!
Posted by: kyle | May 08, 2009 at 07:06 PM
This is a film... art.....not XXX rated porn. No wonder why the idea of romance let alone a romantic encounter seems so removed from Gay "culture". Chill out girls...you judge an entire film on a 1:49 clip.
Posted by: GEO | May 08, 2009 at 07:20 PM
OMG HOMOPHOBIA, HOMOPHOBIA!!! Stop your damn whining and realize you all are the reasons why society hates fags like you all.
Posted by: Tom | May 08, 2009 at 08:19 PM
Robert Pattinson is a shrimp and is soo passé! If you really want a hot hunk that is truly delighting every teenage girl (and me!, weekly) check out Matthew Lanter from 90210. Had Commander in Chief not been soo short-lived, you would have seen him coming out to the President and the First Gentleman and you would have seen him trying to outdo Shawn Pyfrom from Desperate Housewives in kissing boys for rating!!!
Posted by: Me | May 08, 2009 at 08:30 PM
that was retarded. we need a director that isnt afraid to get dirty, thats crap!
Posted by: BSOD | May 08, 2009 at 09:04 PM
I think it was tasteful. If you want to see two guys fucking, buy a porno!!!!
Posted by: body | May 08, 2009 at 09:15 PM
What the hell? What is this ---water ballet? lol
Posted by: Jonathan | May 08, 2009 at 09:55 PM
R u from Newfoundland?
Posted by: ur2 | May 08, 2009 at 10:17 PM
ok, but that's not nearly as passionate enough.
Posted by: Laun | May 09, 2009 at 01:13 AM
it seems to me that we will FINALLY begin to see progress when these "gay" roles in films and televisions are played by openly gay actors -
Posted by: Bryan Lovsness | May 09, 2009 at 01:40 AM
It looks very romantic to me....
Posted by: Steven | May 09, 2009 at 01:41 AM
yawn, boring, yawn.
Posted by: Ken | May 09, 2009 at 04:08 AM
This reminds me of my first kiss. If you have never had a long slow kiss then you really do not know what you are missing boys.
Posted by: Hollar | May 09, 2009 at 10:59 AM
WTF...seriously guys for all you who are critizing this scene think of how hard it is now. and think of how hard it was then. if you were found out to be gay you would either get killed or have your dick cut off. so back the F*** off on how you don't think its good. cause i don't see you out there making movies. once you're in the postition to tell actors what to do then you can bitch but untilt then back off. this scene was absolute art, and the meaning of it, being in open water very isolated, you have to get deeper than just, "i wanna see some tounge action." I can't wait to go see this movie!
Posted by: Brian | May 09, 2009 at 11:35 AM
Its Official: Not going to see that crap... Set gay men back 50 years, looked like a fairy tale for 12 year girls only using two guys... The scene sucked, too long, unreal, too fairy... I could go on...
Posted by: Louis | May 09, 2009 at 01:38 PM
wow.. talk about polarization... hard to believe we''re all supposed to be gay here .. first, i've seen Patinson on television hawking the vampire movie, did not see it, just didn't draw me perhaps cause he's pretty much a twink, but.. i did read the setup here for this clip and sorta thought well.. don't particularly care for this boy.. but i read most of what's put out in these articles just to see who thinks what about this or that, soo i was not prepared for anything spectacular... so i scroll to the clip.. i start it playing... and yeah at first water ballet crossed my mind... continued to watch... thought wow it's a little difficult to see the actors, wonder if i've missed the kiss already.. better make it full screen.. muuch better.. .then it dawned on me, the tension of the scene, the furtive nature of being in the water, no one else watching.. wonder what he's thinking.. so they do a water dance, then soon.. they're holding hands like they would be shaking hands.. and the faces are yet to be real close to one another.. no i had not missed the kiss obviously.. the light dances on the water, the boys swirl around and around uncertain of just what the other is thinking about .. then the movement slows.. the faces begin that irrevocable approach.. the eyes are more visible, the water calms .. the faces meet.. hands move toward the face.. the kiss is shortish.. measured.. .. i'm very absorbed by then and i think to myself.. wow.. that was beautifully done, the water the moonlight .. what is this movie called ?? wow.. .
Posted by: Alexei | May 10, 2009 at 12:10 AM
forget dali. im praying the cullen boys have a shower scene in twilight 2. do vampires bathe? meh, who cares... WTB moar vamp dick plox!!1!
Posted by: kyle | May 10, 2009 at 01:32 PM
Awww, that was so...........HORRIBLE! Give me a break, there was no passion, no desire, only lust; and that was obviously fake as well. Once again, Hollywood failed to show the fire of love between people of the same gender.
Posted by: Steven Pool | May 11, 2009 at 11:13 PM
I'de rather kiss a boxed fart...
Posted by: Wolf4t3 | May 16, 2009 at 10:11 AM
Ok, I know I like typical American whizz/bang ..but geeze that was like watching paint dry! Now if they were str8 white women ..yeah that is bout right speed and texture, cept there would be more talking! LMAO. I think I will wind up seeing this with my rent by mail DVD.
