Gay.com Reader's Choice: Adam Lambert
If it were just up to Gay.com users, Adam Lambert would be crowned American Idol at the end of season eight, but not by a wide margin. We polled users and rocker Lambert pulled in around 53% of the vote over competitor Kris Allen. This reflects the general voting which has reportedly been very tight all season.
Some of the comments expressed a choice based on pure talent:
“Even though both men are very good, I will be voting for Kris. I'm just a bigger fan of his voice and his style. I will definitely but both of their albums though, they both have big careers ahead of them, as well as a couple others from this season.”
“Adam has a great vocal range and stage presence. He is unique, versatile, and creative with his performances and most always gets praise from the judges. This is a singing competition and Adam gets my vote to win, gay or not.”
And some choices were made on criteria other than talent:
“Kris is easy on the eyes. Adam makes me sick, don't know why he just seems to be into himself to much.”
“Kris is the cutest of all the guys, and I love his voice.”
“adams is hot and has a huge package and desever to win”
And some commented that Adam was more talented, he didn’t really need to win to ensure that he’ll have a huge career:
“Adam has a certain career ahead of him anyway...Kris is a sweet talented kid who needs the benefits of being named American Idol to really boost his career.”
“voting for Kris.... both are ridiculously talented guys, but Adam can get a record deal any direction he points. It would be like offering financial aid to a student who already has a full-ride scholarship. Kris needs this more than Adam does... plus i think he's just as, if not more, talented. i think if Kris wins, they'll both get the attention and opportunities that will allow them to live out their potential.”
And if you’re on the fence, you’re not alone. Many users commented no being happy regardless of the outcome. As one reader said...
“Can we have a tie this year? I'd do them both. Can someone say 'threesome'?”

Adam is already established,a well seasoned performer.,is all over youtube already...He was already an Idol before American Idol.It would be great to have a gay "American Idol"but I think Adam is already too big for it.
He has the range of a career singer.He is bound for broadway and much more.I don't see just a rocker,take off those clothes and he'll fit in so many others.Adam,You are beyond a pop singer!I am proud of the humility and maturity you showed through everything and support to your competitors.Every week was like they saved you for last and you just swept away the competition...Jim

Hey bud, you are so inspirational for the gay guys out here. And an awsome singer as well!I personally think you got ripped off, it was so fun to see you singing with Kiss! I really respect how humble you were with Kris winning.Kudos to you, you are a very great singer and a great role model for the gay community :)
