Colbert Goes Bale-istic

It was too good to pass up: the opportunity for Stephen Colbert to do his version of Christian Bale's now infamous expletive-laden freakout. Colbert's uncanny impersonation of Bale's darkest night is a little spooky; he has Bale's the raspy indignation down pat. And the target of Colbert's "verbale" abuse? None other than Steve Martin.  Watch it here, and consider this the beginning of the end of this current cultural obsession.

Dan Savage Talks Prop 8 on "The Colbert Report"

Colbert Outs Tony Perkins...as a Big Dummy!

Colbert In the space of a mere five-minute interview with Family Research Council President Tony Perkins (no, not Psycho Tony Perkins...), Stephen Colbert was able to suck the wind out of the anti-gay marriage movement's sails in a way that proves once and for all that Colbert is the most intelligent voice of reason in media today.

Colbert clip: Who Hearts Huckabee? Not the HRC!

Colbertreport7b My fanatical Colbert Report viewing took a hit with the writers' strike - it just pained me too much to see my dreamy would-be fascist not getting all the laughs he deserves.

Well, he's back on track with his new series, "Better Know a Lobbyist". After realizing that it is in fact lobbyists, and not congressional representatives, that hold the real power in this country (or perhaps, finding that no congressmen or women were willing to come on the show...thanks for nothing, Nancy Pelosi!), Colbert has smartly turned to lobbyists as his next victims.

Stephen Colbert *hearts* the gays

Getty_76787044_colbertellen "The Colbert Report" is back on the air (with no writers), and as gay as a dreamy ex-boy band singer. Earlier this week, queer political columnist Andrew Sullivan was Colbert's interview guest. After Hillary Clinton won the New Hampshire primary, Colbert did a tribute to "the woman with the short blonde hair who's famous for wearing pantsuits" -- Ellen DeGeneres! Stephen danced through his audience to '70s funk music the way Ellen does on her talk show, and he had way better moves. If Stephen Colbert played for our side, yours truly would be first in line for a dance date.

Colbert Gaytion: Dumbledore Gets Wagged

Phoenix2 We all know Stephen Colbert doesn't read (indeed, his best-selling "I Am America (And So Can You)" wasn't even written...it was transcribed). So it was no surprise that he used J.K. Rowling's outing of the beloved Dumbledore to "wag his finger" at the demons that walk amongst us, using their talent for the diabolical purposes of turning kids gay: yes, that's right, children's books authors.

Colbert Gaytion: Premature Ejection

Colbertreport7 So just yesterday I was working out some of the conflicted feelings I had about Stephen Colbert running for president. I decided that yes, I would support him, and even came up with a new campaign slogan: "Grow a Pair, Vote Colbert" (copyright C. Hamlin, 2007). Well, 24 hours later, and we've come to learn that it's the South Carolina Democratic Party that needs to grow a pair. They've rejected Colbert's bid, and I find myself wanting him to run now more than ever.

Colbert Gaytion: Enter Your Slogan Here

Colbert_2 (Getty Images) So now that everyone and their mother knows who Stephen Colbert is, I have to ask, is this "schtick" worth it?  Is running for president, apparently only as a Democrat now as the price of entry to the Republican ballot is too high, good for him, good for America, and good for comedy?

Colbert Gaytion: Colbert and Sen. Craig

Colbert (Getty Image) Does Stephen Colbert have a better chance of getting caught in a public restroom sex bust than a gay sex advice columnist? To hear Dan Savage tell it on the latest installment of Colbert Report's "Gay Roundup", you might think so.

Friend ("just a friend") of the Show Savage stopped by to discuss new hate crime legislation. While treading somewhat tremulous ground for comedy, the conversation quickly toward Sen. Larry Craig, who is turning out to be comic gold for Colbert.
